I want to purchase a cheap chandelier to use for my wedding, but I don't want to actually wire the thing to the ceiling, I just want to plug it in to use for the night. Is this possible?

Yes you can do this either of two ways. One is to buy an extension cord that's long enough for youre needs. You cut off the socket end and connect ("splice") it to the chandelier wiring. The other way is to buy lamp cord at a hardware store -- it's sold by the foot or yard. And you also need a replacement plug. You can buy one that has a slot for the cord to be inserted into; very easy to do. For either of these, you will need electrical tape to cover any exposed wires.

I just saw a plug in small chandelier at walmart. It was about $50 ..had real (i think) crystals... and was very prettty. I don't remember the dimensions but it was decent size. Not sure if it would work for a wedding but I plug ins are available. Good luck.

Totally possible. Check in the lighting dept at the hardware/home store. You are looking for a cord with a plug, it is pre packaged with all of the necessary fittings.

Sure - you may want to get a length of decorative chain and weave the cord in it so it doesn't look so goofy crossing the ceiling and down the wall

get enough # 12 or 14 coated wire that will reach a plug in, buy a male end, get two wire nuts, black goes to black, and white to white......presto, you will have light.....temporarily that is....good luck.....

Sure.make sure you hook up all three wires for safety. Then hang the chain on any hook or nail.

Invite me to your wedding and I'll hook it up for you.(if there is good food)
