I bought wooden blinds for my living room and they are great, as someone said don't slice your fingers, never kink, look great and if from sustainable wood sources are environmentally friendly too.
To dust mine I close them and wipe a duster over the whole thing, Use whatever furniture polish you normally use to clean with.
every so often I have a good clean of them, using cotton gloves as a duster ( get cheap gardening ones) spray some fabric conditioner on them and wipe over, this will help to stop the dust coming back so quickly.
Use an old spray container that may have had say kitchen cleaner in for this purpose. just pour in a little fabric conditioner and top up with warm water, shake then off you go.
BUT
spray the gloves not the blinds. then you dont' get any streaks on the blinds.
If you dont want to have wet hands slip a pair of those disposable plastic gloves on under neath the cotton ones,
Blinds are great as you can filter the light or let it all in, just by setting the angle of the blades.
they never wear out like curtains might. they don't get in the way as you can easily raise them up completely to clean your windows etc.
They give excellent privacy whilst still letting in light Curtains have to be shut to give privacy Blinds just need to be at the right angle.
Hope this helps.
We paid quite a lot for our blinds but now the famous Swedish furniture shop sells them at reasonable prices.

Hi Sunshine. Wood blinds offer a warm and inviting look to any decor. Whether they are richly stained or painted, wood blinds are the modern alternative to shutters. All come standard with decorative valances to cover the headrail, with colorful decorative fabric tapes optional.
Get your wood blinds with the popular no-holes option to stop light from leaking into your rooms. Plus, you'll get tighter closure. As a result you'll block more light and insulate better. Some wooden blinds come with the option to motorize or raise them without cords, providing even safer operation and easier operation.
If you choose a 2 1/2" wood blind the increased spacing between the larger wooden slats gives you less blockage so you can see outside better. This would be the best choice for maximum view and light.
I am a little biased since I work for this company, but I feel we offer quality products at great prices. I will provide a link below to our selection. I hope this helps. Good luck and happy shopping. : )
Regards,

P.S. : Dryer sheets make it easier to dust. -G

Yes, we've got wooden blinds & they let plenty of light in. It all depends at which angle you tilt them.
The only downside is that it's a pain to dust them

Yes they do, mine lets in lots of light, I have them everywhere. I'm very pleased that I bought them. The only problem,is that they can be difficult to clean. Buy one for maybe a back window and see how you get on. They work out quite expensive if your windows are not standard sizes. Unfortunately mine weren't. Good luck.

Well if we want to let in lots of light we generally pull them up. However most of the time we just open them and they're ok. They're a nightmare to dust though.

Yes they are good it depends on what colour you have to how much. but have always been happy with mine. Although in one of my rooms that is quite dark anyway I have found some white blinds that you can see out of but no one can see in cant think what they are called but they also stop the sun fading the furniture.
