I recently looked at a house that I was interested in purchasing. In the basement there was a subpump in a corner and a trench going across the floor of the basement. The trench was not covered. Because the current owners are still updating, I'm not sure if this should be a concern or not. Does anyone know what this would mean? The basement didn't smell musty or didn't seem damp.

I have seen ads for granite 'caps' that fit over the existing countertops. It gives the look of 3 or 4 cm granite countertops without the high price. What is this process called and are there web links to companies who price / do this? Are there suppliers / installers in the DFW, TX area?

I'm moving into an attic. Two of the walls are essentially the "roof" and the two other walls are "triangular" and have such large windows that placing furniture on them isn't possible without covering them. It is a large space and the ceiling is probably 12' at the "peak". Any ideas for working with sloped walls?

I just bought a home in Los Angeles, CA and decided to put a fence around my house and my neighbor currently has a concrete fence or wall around his property. Can I use the fence or wall on my side of the property to hold the fence that I want to install. I have already tried talking with the neighbor and he does not want me to touch his wall at all. The only thing that I will do it maybe drill 2-4 holes to attach the fence. It will not cause any damage at all to the concrete fence. And since the fence or wall which is on my side of the property can't I use it since it is on my side. If anyone has had this problem or know someone tell me what they did or were I can go or call to ask about what to do. The biggest problem is that the work has already been started and I have paid for half of it and I can't just stop it now because this neighbor is being so mean.
