I looked in the yellow pages and telephoned my local 'freemasons'. they were'nt very helpful at all and even quite rude.

Why was this??

i do this type of work for a living, it sounds to me like you just expected this to be cheap or free, i can just imagine your attitude over the phone, why were you expecting a professional answer when you are so rude, plain and simple if you can't afford it put up a chain link fence. i spend many wasted hours every week dealing with customers who want free estimates and then realize they need to hire homeless Mexicans in order to afford it. so please get realistic before you waste the time of hard working people who just want to earn a living not make a killing!!!!!

Probably just busy and aren't interested in doing it, wouldn't take it personally. Keep on at them and I'm sure they will come out. Then they will stand in front of your house with one trouser leg rolled up and chant something really sinister and the whole of your house will fall down.

i make stone walls for a living and i dont think you have the right to "ring " people as you call it and ask for a quote on building or rebuilding a wall!

free masons are a organization that really doesn't do anything with stone masonry but if your in florida my husband is a stone mason he might be able to help you out
