The garage is a garage and will need to be a garage again in a year's time. I am moving in with friends and I wanted to live in the garage because I kind of like being away from the main place and kind of have a place of my own. But what can I do to make it more comfortable to be a bedroom? For pet's we set bug bombs in there but how would I be able to keep them out? and I live in Iowa so it might get cold but there is a old propane heater in the other garage how easy is it to install to put in the other garage..but the main problem would be is keeping the pests out and the comfortablity of living there. There is a loft also and I would like to use that as a space but it gets so hot in the summer.

why is it that when I finish building a piece of furniture from Ikea, I always end up with one piece that doesn't fit anywhere. why is that? does that often happen to you? do you ever keep the Mystery Piece "just in case"?

Okay so how do you hang a poster? Like on a door? Just a paper poster, it won't be framed or anything. When I was a little kid i just put tape on the back and like taped it to the door, but that would end up tearing it up if I wanted to move it. So is there anything you suggest I can do about hanging a poster?

Some of the boards are water damaged or rotten in spots and two have broken thru. I want to lay 3/4 ply in the entire room over the existing subfloor and then add concrete board over the ply. The floor beams are fine. Floor height isn't a problem. Can I do this or should the old boards be removed?

I have room with texture and untextured wallpaper (over drywall) - is it possible to just paint over it, rather than strip off the wallpaper?

Any tips for removing old wallpaper from plaster walls? These are genuine plaster walls (not drywall) so I am afraid to get them wet. My other big concern is pulling chunks of plaster off and having a big job to fill holes.

The man who owned by house before me painted the walls with a "suede" finish - which is kind of rough. What do I need to do to get a smooth, finished looking paint job?

Our living room is in the back of the house and we have french doors that open inside that lead to our patio. I make all of my own drapes and am just stumped as to what options I have with these new doors. I want a lined curtain of some sort and nothing swaggy. I've already chosen my fabrics, just looking for style ideas.

If so, have you encountered any problems with it? Do the kids pull it down? Tear it? Get scared of it? Or would you get one again?
