The man who owned by house before me painted the walls with a "suede" finish - which is kind of rough. What do I need to do to get a smooth, finished looking paint job?

You may have to sand it lightly if it is really rough. No amount of paint or primer will take the roughness out. Happened to my sister-in-law. I would go and ask at the local Home Depot. They are usually pretty helpful.

Yup, i would say you are going to have to sand it smooth then prime and paint it.... certainly a big job =)

You may want to decide to "like" the suede finish ha h ha.

Best of luck =)

You don't, sand it and then paint. You will probably need to put down a primer first.
