I am trying to paint the inside, the bedroom, the kitchen, the den, the whole works!!! I do have some pamphlets but I think that something is nice and then my husband doesn't agree. I don't think that I have much decorating style, but trust me he is much, much worse! He wants all of the walls to be WHITE!!! I can't live in a house where every wall is white, a few maybe but not all of them!!

Drive around and look at other houses and see what you like on them.

I would say it depend on the look you are going for If you are looking for elegant maybe cranberry with a beige "sponge painting" over it. If you are not sure how I have done it before with a nylon loofa. I dipped it in the paint and you "tap"it on the wall all over try to accomplish a uniform look so it looks even. There are other methods for this as well like using an actual "sea sponge" the kind that are have uneven edges. I like yellow ( a light bright yellow not too light.) because it looks cheery and not so gloomy. mauve with white sponge painting looks very good too! lavender is a nice color. Honestly I would pick out your pictures that you are going to hang and I would start there. Try to match one of the colors in the picture to the color on the wall and stick with the same theme for pictures and decor. Now the color that you choose should not be one of the main colors or it will "wash out" the pics. For example it is a picture of a rooster sitting on a nest try to match it to maybe the color of the nest for example keep something small. If you do that it will really bring out the detail in the pics. I sold home interiors for a long time.

You're not giving much to go with here... depends on the size and style of the house, location, landscaping, etc etc etc

Is there a house somewhat close to the same size and style as yours in your neighborhood that you really like? Take some cookies (or beer would work better for some) and ask the owner for help choosing.

ETA:
OK, with the additional info...
All white does tend to be a bit sterile. But if you don't trust your decorating instincts, you should probably keep the interior colors muted. Biege, tan, pastel greens are all very adaptable. Keep the background as neutral as possible then add the color with accent pillows and other stuff that's easy to change.

Start with the colors you don't like, and go from there. Outside is OK to paint white with the trim on a darker color. Inside chose a room that you use less and see what is come out with the color that you pick, if ou don't like, just close the door and think again, paint is the most fun for less money that you can do to change the decor.

I just finished painting several rooms of the house and adding some mouldings. I highly recommend going to this site:

http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/

And click on "Launch Color visualizer".

That way you can visualize what certain rooms may look like. I just used it to get an idea of what colors I wanted, and then went to the home improvement store and bought paints in similar colors.

I am very happy with the results! Try that site!!

It is important that the color in the different rooms around the house come together logically. A light blue or a gray make a small room seem wider.

Check out hgtv.com for tips. If you like cozy colonial colours - choose deep reds and those country blue type colours or even deep red and deeper yellows. It depends on what "look" your going for - did you get any of the pamphlets? They are helpful. Or check out their website for ideas. Without seeing what style your house is, it's hard to help you out.
