I am moving in to a studio apartment next month and would like to purchase a room divider(s) to seperate the living and sleeping space in this apartment. I know you can make your own, but I am not that handy and would prefer to just buy one or two- preferably from a reputable source/company. Any suggestions?

I'm getting ready to paint the walls in the living room. I need some ideas on what colors would look together.

How have they held up? Is staining a horrible issue? Polished or honed? Am I crazy to install limestone in my kitchen? Is travertine or slate or marble a better choice?

I live in a council house and all the woodwork was painted battlship grey. I've painted over it, but I've now decided that it really needs to come off. Trouble is, there is some brown sticky stuff at the bottom of all the layers of paint, it looks like tar. I've tried blow torch and nito mors paint remover stuff, but neither one is really effective.

Anyone know of anything that's really good at shifting it?

I can't afford to do any big work to it so painting would be it. The floor is white and blue stick-ums tile, the counters are cream color, and the cabinits are a darker wood.

We are getting our own place and choosing colors. We chose black solid surface countertops, salem maple cabinets, a rustic brown/beige/gray flooring, light beige walls, a saddle/leather light-colored beigey carpet (multi). We have a black table from Pier 1 that has the red underneath, want black couches, have black entertainment center we made, a dark brown and beigey rug for living room, and a type of red rug for under the dining table. What do you suggest to do with these colors, what to change, what to add, what to take away, how to tie it in altogether? I'm having a really hard time with this and want LOTS of different suggestions and internet references PLEASE!

How is your house decorated? Cottage, modern, country, eclectic? Where do you shop for the things in your home? Did you do it yourself or hire a decorator?

I'm painting my living room with a roller. I want to know how to help the wall from looking streaky. How can I even out the paint? Will it even itself out on the second coat?
