We are getting our own place and choosing colors. We chose black solid surface countertops, salem maple cabinets, a rustic brown/beige/gray flooring, light beige walls, a saddle/leather light-colored beigey carpet (multi). We have a black table from Pier 1 that has the red underneath, want black couches, have black entertainment center we made, a dark brown and beigey rug for living room, and a type of red rug for under the dining table. What do you suggest to do with these colors, what to change, what to add, what to take away, how to tie it in altogether? I'm having a really hard time with this and want LOTS of different suggestions and internet references PLEASE!

Sounds beautiful so far. May I suggest accenting with more of the reds you have. Pillows, throws, vases, wall art, collectibles are all good ways to tie rooms together. Just make sure when doing each room that as you add red it is the same shade as what is already there. Reds especially don't look good mixed. If you started a room in a blue red stay with that. Or if you started with an orange red stay with orange reds. You can go lighter or darker but stay within the colour value. If you need help with it go to: http://www.behr.com/behrx/index.jsp
and click on the explore color tab.

Your colors sound great! I would put some true red pillows on the couch and get a couple of beige or red chairs instead of a love seat. That way you wouldn't have too much black! Buy some red accents for your kitchen and red placemats for your dining room. Think of the beige as your background color, black as your unifying color, a little in every room, and red as your accent color. Look for some patterned things, like a throw, with those colors. You don't want everything to be solid. Is your trim off white? You can add that in your room too.

Bring in some fabric in a print that has most if not all of the colors in it. Stipes come to mind. Sound like your going for an ecclectic and well "traveled" look. Go back to Pier 1 where you got the table for inspiration. Don't make all of your furniture black though. Black is great as an accent. Consider brown, tan or beige with a nice texture for the furniture. Add pillows for other colors.

I am having the same delimma! You could forget black altogether & have the men wear tan/beige suits, which would look great with the brown bridesmaids dresses. Or if your fiance really wants the black tuxes, try to choose a good complimenting color for the vest/tie that will match the bridesmaids dresses. I think that black tuxes with a light mocha or rusty orange vest & tie would look good. You may need to go to a tuxedo shop & have your man try on different combos to see what looks best. Be sure to take a picture/fabric swatch of the color of your BM's dresses with you.

Those sound beautiful for a new house.
The black countertops are going to be great as you add in appliances, workspaces. Chrome finish and black appliances will look great. Use black accents throughout the kitchen in photo frames, utensils, etc.. Not too much, just flowing thru the room.
The black table in the dining room may be tougher as you will see the carpet when you see the table. I hate rugs under tables so can't help you with that one.
The black couch may overwhelm the room, you might consider a lighter shade as it will make the room look bigger. Of course, if the room is big already, the black couch will be just another accent piece. Definitely not too much more black in the living room. Bring in lots of color and patterns.
Have fun...

Think of the black and browns and tans as the neutrals. Use the red as the accent colors. That means bring the red in by using it in the accessories. It should be used in the pillows, the rugs, any vases or other decorative peices you're going to use. As long as the other colors are used as a "base" you'll do okay.

I like brown and red together. Red really stands out next to a dark brown...like a chocolate shade of brown.

There is a plaid with those colors...burberry or something like that. I think it sounds sharp and contemporary. I love the red. I wouldn't be big on the black couches...that could be too much black.
