My house is a place where guests will feel comfortable and gives them intrigue about who I am.I dig conversation pieces.I have an odd placement of things but still orderly and tidy.I love going to secondhand stores to find knickknacks or lamps or tablecloths.I find the most unique one-of-a-kind things there.I give special attention to the lighting. I do things with Christmas lights like cover them with leaf garlands on the edges by the ceiling of a room or shine them through a bottle collection.Candles are everywhere. And I dig Crystals, rocks and shells.Sometimes colorful, sometimes Earth tones.
What about you?

I have a 1920's brick Craftsman Bungalow style home, and it would be almost a crime if I didnt follow that early style of simple, straight lines and a lack of swirly accents throughout. So I try to follow the traditional Craftsman/Mission style of decorating using old 1905 paint color pallates and restoring wood trim and selecting mission style furniture and lighting.

Well, I don't know if I have ever tried to classify my decorating style but I would have to say a classic colonial. I have white oak, wheat stained hardwood floors, white wainscoting, a color called "potters clay" walls (it really looks like wet potters clay-soft neutral green), not a lot of clutter sitting on things or around the house. I love it and its easy to clean and something about it is like I said, classic. I did it myself. Have 4 kids, can't afford to hire someone. I have actually seen my set up with a lot of black trim and fixtures.

Country casual/cottage. I decorate myself to suit my family's lifestyle which is pretty casual.
I usually shop in thrift stores and antique stores for things in my home. I'm also pretty handy so freecycle and curbshopping are great resources. I can find things and fix them up to my liking.

I love Crate and Barrell and Pier One.
You know the Asian decorator (Vern)on Trading Spaces? My house is decorated like something he would do. With alot of iron, oak and nuetral colors.
