60% is about average. When we purchase wholesale, it is usually a discount of 60% to the trade. That is why they can have such great sales!

Depends on the store, and the quality of the furniture. Furniture takes a big hit as soon as it leaves the store, so I recommend buying second hand stuff, and consider having it reupholstered to match your decor. Look for good quality used furniture at garage sales also.

The mark up of furniture is not any different than the mark up of your shampoo at walmart...people think because it is a big ticket item stores have a huge markup and that isn't necessarily so.
