Their is a new product for hanging curtains without using tools or making holes in your walls. It is a slide on bracket for mini blinds that acts like a curtain rod bracket. Has anyone used this, and do you think it really works? www.slideonbrackets.com

Our sewer line runs right under the kitchen, so running the drain shouldn't be too bad, but the nearest source to plumb the water is about 8 feet away, in a wall of the house (plumbing is run all in the attic). Your responses can give me a wide range... I understand that without seeing the layout of everything, an estimate will be REALLY rough!

I have alot of vintage-esque stuff in my room and lots of dark bold colors, which I love. But when I went on vacation and came home I found that my mother took it upon herself to get me bright striped sheets, pastel nonetheless, as well as removing alot of the stuff I thought made my room unique. Should I stick with my red and green citrus color scheme or should a bedroom be brighter and less "cluttery."

What kind of paint do you use and do you put a first coat of something on the wood first. and do you put a coat of something over the top to give it that silky smooth texture?

Have golden oak wood flooring on main floor, with light and dark furniture that varies per room. Upstairs is carpeted but all dark wood. Would it look weird from the ouside to use a light toned shade downstairs and a dark toned blind upstairs? Can different shades be used on the first floor too - where the blinds would match the wood furniture, or should it all complement the floor?

I have a tower shelf that I'd like to use, however it is an ugly fake, pressed wood. I wanted to see if spray paint would adhere to the 'wood'.

I am going away to school and there is a room available for very cheap in a nice apt. The only problem is this room is TINY and I don't know how I can furnish it. It is 6x12 feet, very narrow. The door is on one of the 12' walls about 4 feet from one corner. The closet opening is on the 6' wall at the corner diagonal across. This layout creates a problem because the bed obviously has to go on the side of the door with more space (with the door being about 2 feet, 6 feet of wall remains to corner on the larger side) but then it will be blocking the closet.

Firstly, has anyone else ever had a room this small? If so, how did you have it furnished? I was thinking a fold out Full size futon to put on the closet side that I can fold out to sleep and fold in during day. Will full size fit in a roughly 6' length area, so it doesn't obstruct the doorway? Any other furnishing tips? Is this place just too embarassing and I should forget it?

Thanks.

I am unsure if I have place 1/2 inch Hardibacker or some other type of cement backer board over 3/4"plywood for my granite tile countertop. It is a small 2'x4' square(8-12X12 granite tiles total) that will be supported unbderneath. Thanks in advance for your responses.
