rubber gloves for cleaning the nasty stuff that the cleaning people don't seem to notice!!! toilet paper, cleaning supplies, paper towels, garbage bags, vacuum cleaner. I got a laundry basket full of household supplies when I moved to my first apartment. It had a dishrack, plates, utensils, cups, toilet scrubber, trashcan for bathroom, napkin holder. stuff like that. Hit up the dollare store and see what they have. Contact paper/shelf liners for shelves in kitchen and bathroom.

- Food and beverages
- Means to prepare food and beverages until you get used to the major appliances (i.e. toaster oven, blender, etc.)
- Non-perishables (i.e. toilet paper, paper towels, canned food)
- sheets, towels and pillowcases
- cleaning products (laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, all-purpose cleaner, sponges, a broom or vacuum cleaner, etc.)
- at least one table and chair
- a phone
- flashlights, a radio, and batteries for both
- Somewhere to sleep (a bed, futon, large couch, air mattress)

That's the stuff off the top of my head. I'm sure I'm missing some things.
