By the way, I ended up choosing light blue walls, left the ceiling white, and a light/ pastel green for accents... Thanks again!

I have a candle holder similar to this:
http://ww1.potterybarn.com/cat/pip.cfm?src=schi1%7Cp1%7Cwcandle&pkey=sa1s00candle&gids=p2698
but instead of having the rims for the votive holders, it has a flat surface. I would like to know what to put on them. I can put the votive holders but I would like another idea. Thanks

We are remodeling and can't decide if we should get a single oven, double oven, or single oven with warming bin. Do you use yours often? Do you wish you had one? If you were spending money would you pay extra for the double oven? If you have an oven w/ warming bin, how does that work...are you happy with it? Our only huge meals cooked are Christmas and Thanksgiving. Thanks for your advice!

The lady is suppose to come to our house on the 29th, and I just found about most of my family and friends will be busy that day, how can I let her know that I want to cancel?
Do you think she will charge me a fee for her trouble?

i was watching one of those tv programs where people ask to have their homes decluttered. the organizer comes in and *forces* them to throw away anything that is not important or valuable to the organizer regardless of how precious it is to the owner. many posessions are priceless, perhaps if only for the sentimental value. some items are family heirlooms saved for generations to be passed to the next. some are just tangible expressions of our individuality and who we are. others we have just because we like them.

why would it be ok for people to throw away everything of personal value to someone else just because they ask for help decluttering and organizing? some things are completely irreplaceable like a gift from a child who has since died. just because something has no value to you doesn't mean it has no value to me and vice versa.

how would you feel and what would you do if it happened to you? not asking for help is the obvious answer but what if you really need the help?

Another person asked this question but the answers related to drywall, not plaster. Because plaster is applied on top of lath, I understand it is very difficult to put nails in the wall without cracking it. But there must be a way. Hanging pictures from crown molding is not an option here.

We're closing soon on an older home with wood floors beneath some very disgusting, tatty old wall-to-wall carpeting. I'd like to remove it and rehab the floors. Anyone have experience? Any pros out there who'd care to give a parvenue some advice? Thanks!
