Should we get a double oven? Are they worth the $? Do you use yours? How often? Do you wish you had one?

Question

We are remodeling and can't decide if we should get a single oven, double oven, or single oven with warming bin. Do you use yours often? Do you wish you had one? If you were spending money would you pay extra for the double oven? If you have an oven w/ warming bin, how does that work...are you happy with it? Our only huge meals cooked are Christmas and Thanksgiving. Thanks for your advice!

I have a double oven, and they truely are a life saver...on holidays. I thought I would use it alot more than I do. The warming bin I have is great, I use it all of the time because my timing with dinner isn't always on track. I usually put a damp towel in there so things don't dry out if my timing is really askew!!! Hope this helps, I wish I knew...good question!

You probably do not really need a double oven, if the only big dinners, that you cook are for the holidays. But you may want to consider, that if you do get a double oven, and if you are ever going to sell your home, the value would be worth a few dollars more. But if you are planning to stay there, you might just get the single oven, without the extra expense. I am assuming, that you have a microwave oven, to heat up vegetables..etc..If it was me, I would not spend the extra money, for one..Good Luck, in whatever you decide to buy..

I have no use for a double oven. I rarely use a single oven. I love to make things in a microwave oven, one that heats, cooks with convection, roasts.
With a microwave, I have no use for a warming bin. You can get insulated serving dishes, electric portable warming tray to put on a buffet. Warming dishes with little candles in the bottom are easier and cheaper. Plus you free up some wall space or cabinet space for storage.

When I had a double oven it was convenient because I had a large family, and I could use the smaller oven when ever I needed to bake something small. I guess it would depend on the amount of entertaining you do and the size of your family. Right now, it's just me and hubby and we don't need it or want it. Don't have a dishwasher anymore either. Downsizing...I love that word!

We use ours all the time. It comes in very handy. We purchased a Kenmore model, and the side oven is smalled then our regular one. I personally really like it.
