Before you begin, you will need to establish a budget. I recently redecorated a room, and the occupant wanted a very feminine, pink room. We were on a limited budget, but we created a wonderful room.
We first chose paint : a pale pink and a silver blue. The ceiling and walls were painted silver blue and the crown molding was painted pale pink.
Next, we began to incorporate our theme. I painted a large (from ceiling to floor) dogwood tree. The petals were a beautiful variation of the base pale pink (this can be acheived by mixing darker colors with the base). Don't worry if you are not an artist; you can copy trees onto transparent film and use a projector to trace the picture onto the wall.
Next, came the centerpiece: the bed. It is amazing! We used a simple wooden bedframe and attached an arbor to it at one end to create a headboard. White lights, ivy, and pink flowers were woven through the arbor to create a focal point. Two chinese lanterns were hung from the center of the arbor for a dramatic effect.
Bed linens and accents are no problem. Bed linens can range from a delicate floral pattern to a simple white duvet cover. Also, tables can be created from inexpensive bird baths by adding a plexiglass or beveled glass top. Garden statues can be used as decorative touches. Old furniture can be weathered and brought back to life by using simple paint techniques.
If you have a large room, a porch swing is beautiful when hung from the ceiling. Simply add a blanket and some throw pillows for a cozy seating area.
Finally, just have fun and use your imagination!

The success of any decorating scheme depends on how well it suits all the members of your family. To create a décor that you will be happy with, think about what you want and also what you don’t want.
It’s a good idea to know what you have before you begun to change things. As you begin to pull your design ideas together, think about your preference and what will work in your home.
Color can work wonders... it can change the look of a room and change your feeling about the room. You can start by looking through magazines, and catalogs. Give yourself plenty of time, it will take longer than you think, and your ideas will develop as you go.
Gathering samples is a great way to begin. If you are starting with a color, your samples might include fabric, paint chips, wallpaper, carpet, wood, stone, and tile.
Knowing what you can spend on a project will give you a clearer idea of what you can achieve. If you’ll on a limited budget, mark off those things that will make the most difference, such as a new wall color and a new sofa.
You can set the mood of a room in lots of ways, such as lights, and furnishings. There are no hard or fast rules or must-do sequence for this process.

I had a Strawberry Shortcake room when I was little. How old are you? How about pink with dragonflies, butterflies, and flowers in different colors to contrast with the pink. Usually stores will have similar themes so go to a few and pick a pattern you like and go from there. Don't do matchy-matchy because that is boring. My daughter's bathroom is rubber ducky but everything is different but still goes together. There's even turtles and flowers mixed in with the rubber ducks. Have fun with it.

eek!! i just re-did my room pink. it is sooooooooooo unbelievably cute!! it is pink with a white stripe at the top of the wall to make the room look taller. then on the back wall there are about 5 big stripes of orange, yellow, fuchsia, and dark/light pink. i also re-did my wood floor and have 2 cute flower rugs and cute daisy hooks. i also put up a pink bulletin board and magnetic poetry boards. it rocks!! wish i could show you pictures. :D
you should get a cute bedspread and then match the paint to it. (if you do it the other way around it's really hard to match your bed to the color of paint you got) i would do brighter color to make the room POP! it's more fun that way. you could also get a cute chair, mirror, pictures, etc. the possibilites are endless.
have fun, i hope you love your new room.

Frills, and swaying curtains. Don't just throw a lot of crap in there, organize and make it simple. Simple is better than **** piled up together.
