I was doing some ironing and I never realized how dirty the plate on my iron was. I don't know the best way to clean it without affecting the clothing.

It was a handmade baby shawl in fine wool. Someone helpfully washed it without thinking about the temperature. It has shrunk and matted. I guess it is beyond hope but it has a lot of sentimantal value and I thought it could be worth trying Yahoo Answers. Please help if you can.

I have a white Calvin Klein bra from the "365" collection. It's slightly a push-up bra which means it's thicker in the actual cup part of it, and it has under-wires. I try to keep it as clean as I can but it is white afterall, so it get's dirty, especially along the straps and edges etc. The bra is made of 86% Nylon and 14% elastane (which is some kind of elastic im guessing?) and the label says "exclusive of elastic and decoration" beneath the above two fabrics. I have no idea what that means but it might not be relevant. I wanted to know if it was ok to soak the bra in Oxi-Clean solution? and if so, are there any pre-cautions I should take?

My washer won't drain the dirty water, so I got a new one. I decided to buy a dryer along with it, so I can replace both of the old ones. Unfortunately, my bathroom doorway is 24", and my old dryer's dimensions are: H 35 x W 29 x D 25.5. The washer/dryer won't be able to fit through the door. Is there a possible way to take apart the dryer and reconstruct it again, or another solution?

I let a friend park their car (old classic- my butt!!) in my driveway while they were away for a month and the car leaked oil on my very light, almost white concrete driveway..The spots are big in my opinion, some over 1/2 foot across.. Are there any products I can buy or better yet any home remedies that work?.. Thanks for your help!!!

We have pets and kids and a lot of wood floors. We currently have a cannister vacuum, but its a pain to store and tough to lug around. We are looking for a high quality, light upright with a small head to get into corners and tight spots. Any advice? Please help! Thanks,

The chores seem to be piling up non-stop!! i have 4 kids and a busy lifestyle, which I love and wouldn't trade for anything - but just cannot seem to get on top of all my housework! The washing is all clean - but the pile is HUGE to fold and put away (6 people, 6 pairs of socks per day x 7 = 42 pairs of socks a week!!! - not to mention all the underwear and other clothes).
Besides that - the general cooking, cleaning, tidying up, and I want to help the kids with homework, do some baking and have some fun and spend time with others...
What ideas for organising the cleaning better? Any tips of perfect chores for kids? (ages 12, 9, 4 and baby). They only make their beds, lay the table, clear the table and pick up their toys is really all they do at the moment... they are good kids and will gladly help out - but how to structure it?
Any ideas of storage or tips on how to keep the toys tidy in the family room? Help, I'm really getting overwhelmed
