You can hand wash silk.

The problem is that the skirt is made out of a range of different materials and ties.

The problem with washing silk is that you get a range of different qualities. Some will shrink in the wash, some will lose their dye.

Basically you add a small amount of washing liquid (or special silk washing liquid) to luke warm water (room temperature) and soak then gently hand wash.

Then rinse in lukewarm water, drip dry. When it is still wet lay the skirt flat and dry in the shade.

I have had silk shirts I can machine wash with not problem, and others that fall apart with hand washing.

Your skirt sounds great, wash it gently and it will last a long time.

Dry cleaning is another option, but a little bit expensive.

Silk ties need to be dry cleaned only. However, if it isn't real important I have cleaned some of my ties with Dryel. It works ok, but I'd never trust something expensive or memorable with it. The pros are pros for a reason.

Don't put this shirt in the washer. Take it to the dry cleaners.

Personally, I would recommend taking it to the dry cleaners first-see what they have to say about the best cleaning method. Take care.
