How do I clean black sludge from the condensation pan in the AC unit ?

I have suffered from (almost) continual sinus infections and upper respiratory difficulties. Today my son checked theAC unit removed about half gallon of black sludge. HELP PLEASE AND THANKS. SUNNY

The black stuff is mold. You need to use bleach to clean it and I usually have someone pour some bleach thru mine every summer. Keeps it cleaner.

Is this a window unit or central unit? Window units should be taken out each year and cleaned just as the weather is starting to get warm. Central units are a little harder since its hard to get to condensation pan. You could squirt a little bleach into it to kill mold....or even put in some swimming pool chlorine tablets to dissolve as it gets water in it.
