I heard someone say that they saw on the news where the ants are in people's houses because they are looking for water since it is so dry out. They are in my kitchen and my kid's bathroom.

It's not from a dirty house. I keep a clean house. We just spotted them yesterday. When we got home from church this morning there were a lot more of them. I bought some Ant Raid Homes. I hope this works. Thanks for everyones input!!!

I had the little ants in my house, too. They really like dog food. I used everything under the sun to get rid of them, but nothing worked, until I asked the neighbor about it. He told me the only thing that would work was Bug Stop. It's the cheapest bug chemical in the stores, and it works the best.

First, ignore the directions on the bottle (except safety instructions), they want you to use an entire bottle every six months. You spray around the foundation of the house and around the outside of the windows and doors. Then the inside of the windows and doors, and every corner of the basement. I did this, and the ants were gone within the hour.

They may be living in the walls or finding their way in through a crack near the base of a wall or the window frame. Use an ammonia-based cleaner to wipe wherever they've been to remove the scent trails they leave. Then place a Terro Ant Bait Trap near where they are, but hidden (like under the fridge) so that you don't walk in their way. The ants will take the ant bait back to the queen and this should kill the nest. I found that the ant spray just killed the ones you could see, but more would come back. A cheap and simple alternative is to sprinkle cayenne pepper into wherever they're coming from.

This will sound crazy but it worked at my Mother in laws house in Iowa.

I was there for a week packing her up to move to Florida and her kitchen had little ants streaming across the kitchen counter. Unable to find a spray of any sort I put powder, like baby powder in the area they walked. I had read that this would get rid of them since the powder is so fine they smother.

It worked, much to my surprise. They were completely gone the next morning. In 40 years in Florida I have never had ants in my house. So I had no experience on what would work, except this home remedy.

Okay, I have tried all of these other answers before living in Florida and NONE of the home remedies worked! However, I finally gave up and called an exterminator and that worked! It only cost me $14 and they came out and found the colony, sprayed them and no more ants. I had those little black kitchen ants or "sugar ants" because they get into ANYTHING in the kitchen (flour, sugar, oil, pasta- anything). Come to find out they were living in a post OUTSIDE that supported the roof of our porch and were trailing up to the roof, over and down into my kitchen cabinets. I know how you feel, it was so frustrating to try everything only to watch them march across the ceiling and then the counters and then the walls. Nothing I did helped. Not traps, concoctions, sprays, or cleaners. And because they found the tiniest bit of crumbs not even locking up all food in air tight containers worked. They just moved to my trash! Call an bug man he'll nip their little butts and usually guarantee the work.

There is no way to get these out of your house. I hope your talking about those little black ants because thats what I am talking about. We have those in our house too. They only come out in the summer and after summer they will be gone. Pretty soon they will leave since winter is coming up in everything. You could call an exterminator, but I dont think it is worth it for these little creautures. Just wait until summer is over. But be ready for them again next summer. Hope this helped.

Keep it dry and keep it clean no food for them to come and get it.

But they may be in the soil and few times a year they do house cleaning of their own so you need to be vigilant. They were there first and the do play beneficial roll. If they do not disappear in few day then get it exterminated.

They come from food that isnt disposed with. Make sure you keep your kitchen clean of dirty dishes. You can buy at the store those ants traps. I would say Walmart or a hardware store would have them.
