Soak the label in a mixture of 50/50 hot water and vinegar it should peel right off after about 15 minutes of soak time.

Are you talking about the big plastic security tags? If they forgot to take it off you need to go back to the store and have them remove it (bring your reciept just in case) or you can get a heavy duty screw driver and pry it apart.

GooGone. It can be purchased at Walmart and most grocery stores. It removes almost anything sticky, without staining or damaging.

Soak it in a lukewarm water for an hour, then remove and gently scratch it.
