I became a member there and you just follow routines and it makes a HUGE difference the way your house looks!

I find it easiest to do one room per day, more or less anyway. I do two bedrooms in a day cause they need less cleaning. Just a little dusting and vacuum. I alternate changing the sheets so they're changed every two weeks.

First thing I do in each room is to go in with a laundry basket. I fill it with everything that doesn't belong in that room and set it outside the room I'm cleaning. Then I straighten things that are supposed to be in the room and dust - or scrub and wipe things down in the bathroom. I do the floor on (vacuum or mop) my way out of the room. Finally I grab the laundry basket and go around putting things away.

The laundry basket helps a lot. Without it you can end up running back and forth taking things to other rooms and wasting a lot of time and energy. I usually only spend 20-30 minutes each day with this routine.

One of the keys is keeping things picked up inbetween times and that involves the other members of the family, including the kids. If a child is old enough to make a mess they're old enough to pick things up. You can make it a game with younger kids and when that doesn't work - what doesn't get picked up goes away. Into a box for a week or two the first time. If they still don't pick up after themselves anything left out goes to the Salvation Army store. This works with children of any age, including husbands. :o) But they have to know that you're serious. If you threaten to give the things they leave out to charity but never do, it loses its power. Do it one time and you'll really get their attention.

I live with 6 family members and my boyfriend comes over every couple of days

I like to clean up around the house every other day.

but the areas I use the most like my room and bathroom get clean once or twice day depending on if there dirt in the clean or not. I can tell you I buy a lot of products that work and dont.

I can also say if you stick with daily rountain it helps because like I tell my boyfriend who not use to cleaning up room his house. It better to do all the work to clean out the areas that need the most cleaning the spots you use most frequently good than keep them up daily so the dirt is easier to take off

I use The Clean Team technique and I have separated my chores into 4. Bathroom, Kitchen, dusting and vacuuming. I clean the bathrooms one day, the kitchen the next and dust and vacuum on the next and just do general tidying up the rest of the days. Then I repeat in a week. I have allergies and a cat and this is sufficient for me.
