Cleaning & Laundry - February 2007

I rent a home and my dryer runs off of it's own breaker. Everytime I run my dryer the breaker blows and when this happens there is an awful strange smell coming from my breaker box. Our dryer was broke for a while and we never smelled that particular smell. But now that it's working again, the smell is back and the breaker blows. I have voiced my concerns to my landlord but with no resolve. I have 3 small children. Does anyone know if this is dangerous or what steps I should take.

I washed my family's dark clothes all at once but found that my husband had thrown a pair of khakis his basket. I assumed he had done it inadvertently and took them out. Last night he was upset that I hadn't washed them and insisted they DO belong with the darks -- I say they're OBVIOUSLY light. ???

No, I'm not trying to scam the elderly by washing their checks. Our three year old daughter found her birth certificate and wrote all over it with a Bic ballpoint pen!

I tried soaking it in rubbing alcohol, and nail polish remover, and that took out about 75% of the markings (faded them, actually) but does anyone how how to get them all the way off?

See, my mom cooks a lot (and so do I) and she uses a lot of grease. Problem is, with this winter weather, the windows are often left closed, and that grease smell permeates the entire apartment, ends up in my jackets/clothes, and leaves me smelling...smelly.

Any ideas how to get the smell off my clothes and/or prevent the smell from getting on them in the first place?

I bought a new house last year and was told to spend money on a bed, tiles, floors and cooker and all the rest can be replaced. But I wish someone had told me about the ironing, it takes twice the time.
Anybody else wished they'd spent money on something good rather than a cheap version....

My god. I get shocked EVERY single day. I am so afraid to touch my light switches, my cat, my blankets, doorknobs. Nothing works. I've tried lotion & static spray. Just a second ago, I went to turn off my lamp, and the little thing that you pull produced such a strong shock that it moved pretty hard, and everytime I get shocked there is a lot of blue. How do I stop this!??!?!?

I got my shirt signed this weekend. And I need to wash it now. But it's signed with sharpie and I don't want it to bleed or wash out. It's not written on the actual FABRIC.

Do you call it OCD? Anyways, I think I have that disorder. I wash my hands for hours, and I wash it thousand times a day. I'm so addicted to washing my hands. I tried to cut down washing my hands. But I just can't. I feel like I have to wash my hands. There are germs everywhere.

I have used static guard. It doesn't help at all. My new furniture seems to have started it or it was just a coincidence. I can't even comb my hair without it filling it out with static. Anyone else had this problem and find a solution?

My room is always so messy. It gets to the point to where there's a little pathway going from my door to my bed. My problem is that everytime I clean my room, it gets messy the next day. I hate cleaning it too often because I know where everything is when it's messy. But, there is the occasional time where I can't find anything. My room is pretty small and I know I have too much stuff. I was going to start to throw stuff that I don't need away, but I'm a pack rat. How do can I keep my room clean and organised? What are some good tips to throw away things that you don't need? Any other tips you have on this topic I'd gladly take also.

Please and thank you.
