If you have enough laundry, they really go in with the "tans" load. If they are a light colored khakis, they go with the lights. If you put them in the darks, you may get dark streaks, very faint, and make them look old. Stick with the lights load!

I like to wash my khakis with lights so they will not turn dingy. Some darker colors will bleed no matter how many time they are washed and Khaki material is very easy to pick this up.

My husband has khaki pants as part of his work uniform. I usually wash them with the darks, but sometimes I will wash them with the light things.

I always wash light and dark together(no garantees for black and white, and specially red tho lol) When you have something new let it soke in water with vinegar, rinse it out and wash it with a little bit of vinegar in the washing machine. Wash it on 30 degrees max (soaps nowadays are good enough to get everything clean at lowest temperature) and everything should be just fine. Ive been doing this for myself and people ive worked for for years, nothing ever happened with clothes and colours

You should wash them with lights. Have you ever washed a kinda light , but dark shirt with lets say jean? Even if they seem like they go together, you can get the I guess "fuzz" off of the jeans, and I always seem to have to rewash it. If he thinks it's no big deal, then do it and just wait and see. He might just change his mind. Also, have you ever tried using 'Shout, color catcher sheets'? They are a God send. You might throw them in with his pants just to make sure. Hope it helps

I'll go with your thinking. I wash khakis with light colors but not with whites that I use chlorine bleach on. But, if he doesn't care about keeping them fresh looking, throw them in with the darks.--go for it. He has to wear them.
