dysons are the biggest scam ever! The whole selling point is that there is no bag = no clogging = no loss of suction.

But the average dyson has 2 filters - a cleaners bag is a filter - so as the filters clog, there is a loss of suction!

dyson's are just pretty colours, good marketing and bad science.

I got the Animal Dyson on sale, a 2005 model in 2006 and it's amazing....I've tossed out more disposable $200 Hoovers and
Bissells than you can shake a stick at. People are full of crap when they say Dysons are a scam and don't work well. I've never had an issue with it and never had anything actually pick things up off of a bare floor (hardwood) like this does.

Everyone I know who has had a dyson says they are not as good as they are supposed to be and the filters always end up going on them and have to be replaced quite frequently.
I would go with henry-its more likely to last as it is an industrial vacuum as well as being half the price as you said.

No I don't think they are all that good, lots of pretty colours.. But Kirby rule the world. A tad more expensive though. We've had one for 9 1/2 years and still going strong, massive suction & shampoos fantasically well. In my opinion KIRBY are the best around, And believe me I've tried them all, dyson henry the lot. Although VAX are pretty good... have fun

They are great, would never go back to a bag version. My only tip is go for a simple version (without all the clever rflow rate checks and flahy bits). Even the simple Dysons do a great job. Even better, get a reconditioned one, much cheaper. We have had ours for 4 years, no problem.

Early Dysons were a bit troublesome, in and out of the repair shop, but the latest models are better. But 'Miele' & 'Sebo' cannot be beaten (we have used both). Try one first before buying!

Dysons are a good hoover for around 12 months then they go downhill fast.
