Use dryer sheets in the dryer. This will eliminate the static. If you forgot to add a dryer sheet in a load, put it back in the dryer with a dryer sheet for ten minutes. It should eliminate the static.

Static cling is caused by static electricity, usually due to rubbing as in a clothes dryer (the Triboelectric effect). It can be removed by deionizing materials with water (for example, lightly misting a shirt with water if it has static cling), and prevented with fabric softener dryer sheets. Antistatic agents are used to make the surfaces slightly conductive, which reduces or prevents the static charge buildup.
That's the fancy answer--just use fabric softener AND sheets (most importantly) if it is real bad.

Hard water can cause static, use a "softening" agent in your wash load. (oxy-clean type or borax or baking soda) Also, your dryer. Use a dryer sheet or 2 to help prevent static build-up. Sometimes it's you. My husband has static in his body all the time. He interferes with the radio and my satellite remote that uses radio waves. Not much you can do if it's you. Try using a moisturizing bar soap after washing your body with your normal soap. Actually use moisturizer on your skin. Dryness causes the static. Winter makes it more so because of the heater. Try a humidifier in your home if it's a real problem. Hope this was helpful.
