I am not a savvy gardener, so it would have to be something simple that can thrive in some shade. I live in New England. Thanks!

I write everything down so I don't forget things. I also feel better if my house is clean and tidy. How do you stay organized?

Please don't say kill them; my husband is away for the next couple of months and he can do it then, but I CAN'T. I tried mothballs, which don't help, and there are way too many ways for the squirrels to get in the house from outside (I live in a trailer and it's open underneath). So is there a way to keep them out of my home just for the until they're dealt with permanently (before they chew through my wiring and set the house on fire)? Also, the sonic things that you plug in don't seem to bother them either.

A relative has given me a filling cabnet with a small safe built inside. The safe has been left open but if shut can't be re-opened without the combination.

There seems to be a panel I can unscrew to get access to the inside workings of the lock but I don't have a clue about how to reset it to a new combination?

Any good books that can walk me through the process, or will I have to go to a locksmith?

Moved into a new house 6 mos. ago, this past weekend, ripped up the flooring by the kitchen sink to find a 5'x6' wet, rotten area of the floor which I'm currently cutting out and replacing. Want to make sure the leak is taken care of (still don't know where) so I'm replacing the pipes from the crawl space up to the sink. I've noticed the pipes I've taken out are 1/2" copper with 5/8" comp. nuts/fittings. Would this cause a leak? Was also no teflon or anything on the threading. Also, when I had the water turned off to the house, there was still a constant drip, enough to fill a 5 gal. in 8 hrs, from the fittings I removed the pipes from. Could I have too much water pressure? Fixing the floor isn't a problem, need to figure out where the leak is from so it doesn't happen again.

Thanks

I bought house in 1996 that was built in 1954 without any a/c. Since half of house is on a slab we installed a/c duct work in attic in fall 1996. Installed 12 more inches insulation in attic in Jan. 2001. Put new windows in Jan. 2003 and new garage door in May 2003. Old garage door was too heavy for wife to open so we left it open all the time till new door was installed. Had no trouble till I had new windows put in. About a week after installation, I noticed ceiling was changing color and started to inspect. Noticed that the marks were about every 3-4 foot and directly under duct work in attic. Went in attic and found water running out at every joint in duct work. People who installed air came back and wrapped insulation around duct work in mar. 2003. Seemed to help but it still leaks a little. Ran 2 dehumidifiers this winter keeping basement at 20% and upstairs at 30-35%. I have hot water heat so duct work is not used in winter.

Is there something I can use which does not require a lot of hole drilling? I really don't need the lock for optimum security, just enough to keep nosey roommates at bay. They wouldn't go so far as to bypass a lock. Most likely I'll just use it for the closet doors where I'll keep personal papers etc. The lock will be for folding closet doors that open out, or a regular closet door that you pushes close with a turn knob. Thanks.

I live in a condo development, and my balcony is directly across from my neighbors. How could I decorate the balcony to have some privacy? I'm sure I can't add anything major due to rules and regulations, but there must be something. Sometimes I just want to lay out there under the sun without being peeped at. Thanks

My hyacinth from last year has resprouted in the smallish pot I bought it in. There are two additional smaller shoots that aren't doing as well as the big one, so I want to transplant them. Any tips on separating and transplanting them? I'm sort of gardenally challenged.

One year ago I had maple flooring installed in my home. I switch back from Bona Kema and Orange Glo to clean my floors. They now have a buildup on them. What is a good product to get this film off? There is also some peeling of the finish. Some of it is understandable(around toilet where there has bee moisture) but there is also peeling around nail heads and other spots. There are nails around my counters that are not flush, and i do not know if they were ever filled, should i nail them further, and fill them? I hate to think after 1 year my floors need to be refinished but I am so disappointed with the look of my floors. HELP!!

I know oven cleaners will tell you not to use the product on racks or elements and what have you....but is it safe to use them on a broiler pan that seems to have come with the oven or at the very least looks to be the same material as the inside of the oven?

I have to clean my oven anyway and I can't get this darn pan clean!!!

The sagging plaster ceiling (2X5 ft. section) seems stiff and doesn' t flex much. There are no huge cracks, just the sag. I think the plaster might break more if I push it up to make contact with the lath. Please offer advice and suggestions on this procedure.
