I live in a condo development, and my balcony is directly across from my neighbors. How could I decorate the balcony to have some privacy? I'm sure I can't add anything major due to rules and regulations, but there must be something. Sometimes I just want to lay out there under the sun without being peeped at. Thanks

P.S. It would have to be something that can't be blown away when rain, wind, etc is active.

You could go to this website: http://www.balconyprivacy.com.au/
Or get some larger plants either hanging or standing to cover some....
Good luck to you!!

String some wire up along the sides and across the front top. Get some good size pots on each side and plant with fast growing annual vines, cypress vine, lablab bean are great. Train them right along the railing too. Water the pots religiously or put an auto timer on a faucet to drip lines. Great efect!
Maybe one of these wide bamboo roll-up blinds that you can pull up or down easily.

could you get a screen. you can get ones for the garden or the type you have indoors. they sell them in places like home base you may even find one in amazon or on eBay.if this is out of the question try putting two plant growers one each side of your balcony (and one in the middle if balcony very big )and grow some climbing plants such as honeysuckle or climbing jasmine across them. it wont totally block everything out but it will make your place a bit more private.

Actually, it depends on what floor you're on.
If you have apartments in the buildings across from you that are higher than you, you would need to put up something that would be so high that it would block the sun.
If you they're no higher than being level with you, put a blanket over the railing while you're out there and take it in with you when you're finished.

A roll-up bamboo curtain might be the answer. They are relatively inexpensive and can be rolled up when not in use and would be sturdy and not blow away. They would also provide privacy when unrolled. I think they come in 6 and 8 foot widths.

How a piece of nice lattice fencing. You could put it on two sides or on all three if you wanted to. It could be mounted with screws. That way you can take it down and store it in the winter, so it doesn't rot.

you can be creative, there are tarps with grommet holes-
they can be trimmed to size to block out anything
Also, you can put up a nice looking plastic shower curtain
to block their view, or a large sun umbrella
I have used the tarps for my porch-it created a very good
effect-very private!
try home depot too- I bet they have things you could buy
like part of a wooden fence or gate to put up against the
balcony wall
