what type of paint and primer would i use for repainting aluminum siding?

after power washing my aluminum siding need to know what type of paint and primer

You need to clean the siding first, if there is a white powder on it, chalking, you need to use a cleaner. i reccomend TSP. It is a powder you mix with water and you can run it right through the power washer. As long as there is no shine to the surface, you don't need to prime. If you wanted to be safe you could use a product like Duration from Sherwin-Williams, it is a self-priming exterior latex paint.

what you should be concerned with is the finish now, because aluminum usually has a bake on finish over time they tend to caulk. what you should do is power wash the walls fist i would even consider a lite sanding to rough up the surface so that you have something to adhere to your best bet then would be to talk to your local paint store most of those guys have been in the business and can tell you what kind of primer if any is needed. you will have to prime any barre spots and then a good quality exterior latex paint over top and your golden .

if you aren't changing the color from red to white you don't need primer. I had tan aluminum siding, in two days my husband and daughter cleaned it by hand and painted it blue. It was gorgeous, then he put up a white picket fence. New hubby. We used paint from Walmart. Latex enamel.
