Start by getting any laundry done then throw out all the bits of junk you don't need, and be ruthless! Then do one room at a time, clear everything out except large furniture and clean from ceiling to floor including all paintwok and windows. Then replace everything back in the room and move on to the next. A good tip is to spray any bathrooms or toilets with cleaner then let them soak while you get on with other things (you can do this with ovens and hobs too.)Also put your fav music on while you work and really get into it. Don't look at it as a chore but as a bit of cleaning therapy. There is no better feeling than working your *** off to clean the entire house and seeing the end result, very satisfying! Good luck.

Whenever I do a spring clean I always start at the top front of my house and work my way to bottom back.

If you mess about making schedules and plans you waste half of the day organising and wasting bits of paper.

Just make a start with all the little niggly bits. Expect the clean to take a good couple of days though!!

No I do not get stressed because I never attempt a big job because I know I cannot finish it in one day.
I can tell you however, that my tasks are scheduled.
One day off, I do the windows not just the glass but all the surrounds.
Another day I do the curtains and poles (that means laundering, drying and hanging them up again.
And some day I wash the kitchen from ceiling to walls to floor.
Plus I have the weekly chores too, not to mention having a life.
So rather than attempting to do all in one go, I take the "Rome wasn't built in a Day" attitude.
It would do you good if you can at least to schedule your spring cleaning.
Good Luck!

Hi Catwoman - I think you need to break the task into manageable chunks, so that the thought of it isn't so daunting. So take it one room at a time, and one job at a time. I'd suggest starting in your bedroom, and tidying the cupboards and drawers first - throw away, recycle or give to charity shops anything you no longer use. Then next time you're in a spring cleaning mood, wash the paintwork, then another day do the windows, then later do a thorough vacuum. Then you can think about the next room you want to do. The most important step is to get started!

I know the feeling - well, for one, I take care of the stuff I see first - the basics, clean your kitchen, living room and pick up in the rooms, because you don't want to start something, like dig up a closet and create more mess, so clean the areas you can see first then work on cleaning the hidden mess after. I usually load up a bucket with paper towels, cleaners and a duster then go room by room. Good luck and it can be relaxing, so start the music and go :)

Yes, I have. It feels wonderful to be ending the winter with a great clean and throw away. I thank that things just multiply when we are not looking. Happy spring cleaning.

I am totally with you on this one.. 100% I get really stressed with my house . I have a hubby and 2 kids and my hubby does nothing around the house. I work a 56 hour week and get very few days off so i know where you are coming from!
I usually make a conscious effort to start in the furthest room upstairs away from my stairs and work my way around and down!!!! I have bought this little caddy thing that means I can carry all my cleaning products around with me so its all together!
You feel so much better when you are done hey!?/xx

1st- grab u a bucket fill it with everything you'll need. Then get u an empty clothes basket an take with you. I start in the back of the house an move forward, the reason is (if i start in the front room an get tired I think no one will see the rest). In the empty basket put the items that don't belong in that room in there, an take the basket to the next room, drop it off. Then start at the top an work down. When your finished head to the next room. Take out of the basket that belongs in that room, an put in what doesn't. Start at top to bottom.

Remember if you bring something in, take something out.

Ok, you have to look at it as fun. See the long term effects not the short term. After you are finished, you dont have to do anything with it anymore, and you can relax. The thing is to just start. After a while, take short 5 minute or so breaks, until you get it complete, then after you are finished, try your best not to let it get messy again. Look at it like fun, play music, and dance while you are cleanig even if you want to. JUST START!! After you read this answer, at the count of

why dont you start in your kitchen, when im doing a clearout i go through all my cupboards and drawers and clean the cupboards and then throw out any junk i dont think i need.

or try your bedroom, your wardrobe is a big place to think about tidying.

i get stressed when things are out of place or my house is messy, i get up in the morning very early and before i leave the house i give it a good cleaning especially my kitchen, everywhere is cleaned with dettol to keep it cleaned.

Start with bin bags and get rid of anything you don't use or need. Then sort out your laundry and start using the washing machine. Your supposed to start dosting from the top, that way any dust you disturb will settle on the floor to be hoovered at the end, dont forget to clean your paintwork, skirting boared doors etc, pull the furniture out when you hoover. Then come round to my house and do mine! Good luck.
