I heard peppermint oil works well on getting ants out. True?
Also, roaches in drawers, countertops. Anything that can be used beside pesticides, maybe natural? I know they'll scatter til the coast is clear and then come back.

No I've not posted my question in the wrong section. My girlfriend has bought me a Bonzai tree after I mentioned that that is a plant I would really like and now I'm terrified that I will kill it!! My Palms are sweating and I'm having Palpatations! Can anyone in the wonderful world of answers give me any advice or good websites so I can learn how to keep Bonzo (oh god I've given him, yes it's a him, a name!) happy. Every two weeks I have to give him special nutrients. What are these and where in London can I get them?
Thanks in advance!

Urban :o)

I drained my hot tub the day before and installed a new filter. Yesterday evening around 6 pm I filled the water back up and turned on the heater to reheat the water. It is now 6 am the following morning and when I checked the water it is ice cold but yet I hear the heater running. Shouldn't the water be at least a few degrees warmer then it was yesterday, if anything its actually colder.

I ran out of fuel oil for my furnace, and the guy doesn't come until Monday. I have heard that diesel is the same thing. If I buy 5-10 gallons, could I make do until he shows up?

I wanted to get a TORX screwdriver set so I can do stuff like on awkward shaped screws in appliances around the home and the car.

I got a recommendation to get the set here:
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=100189&ts=23564&id=95315

My confusion is how do I get a grip on the end of these bit ? Are you supposed to use them by hand by just grabbing the metal, or is another tool needed for them to clip in to ?

Thanks.
======
From site: letsfixit
If the screws have a star shaped centre, then these are TORX or star screws. Most of the standard “screwdriver bit sets” contain 3 or more of the most popular size.If the heads have a small “pip” inside, they will be security screws. You will need a Security Bit Set. SCREWFIX sell a standard sized 33 bit set (D18983) at around £10, but for £15 you can get the 75mm long set (D95315). These are better for removing recessed screws.

In a few weeks I am picking up a new riding lawnmower. I have a pickup and access to a trailer at work. The trailer is pretty low, has an all wood floor, and metal bars on the front and sides, and a drop down metal framed gate with mesh covering that looks like it was designed to handle the weight, pretty much made for the job I need to do. But no tie down anchors. As long as I take precautions to keep the mower from rolling, will it be OK just sitting there? Or do I need to figure out a way to tie it down?

And can you buy that somewhere? I'd love to give it a try. Maybe it would be the answer to some of our energy problems? You wouldn't need any lightbulbs anymore, would you?

A couple of months ago my toilet was really blocked. My partner unblocked it with drain rods, but he had to rod it from the inside as our toilet run joined onto the main run and we couldnt find a manhole cover, it took all 10 rods to do it and it was a nasty job. Anyway, the past week the bathroom has stunk really bad of drains. I cant stand it anymore. Our bathroom is downstairs by the way, so what could the problem be? The blockage has deffo gone and the back of the loo is trapped obviously so where is the smell coming from? Pls help x

(UK) Currently its all fitted in but the outlet hose (came fitted) is too short to reach waste pipe.

I kept the hose from the old dishwasher. In fact I cut the old tube at the waste pipe so that I've got a length drop of old hose still fitted and running from the waste pipe.

Is there any device to join the two outlet hoses securely ??

Some sort of proper joining mechansim ? If there is, would there be any certain size to get ?

At the moment I've got both hoses (dishwasher outlet and secondary old one to waste pipe, linked by tape and a jubilee clip around... it works but its so loose... the join could easily fall apart and cause a big leakage.

Thanks.

Whats the best way to go about removeing a frozen screw? I have soaked them in penetrateing oil, also a break free type of corrosion desolver, and tapped them with a hammer to try to get them to loosen up. I want to remove these screws so that I can get to the carburater on my chainsaw. They are philips heads.Any one have any ideas how I might get these out before I strip them and end up with an easyout.

Is there a pen type thing for writing in permanent bright white ink on black plastic ? If so... any ideas where I can buy one from ?

Tipex aint good enough. I've got loads of electrical stuff and most of the power-adapters aren't labelled to say what items they are for.

Result is that when I come to charge something I've no idea which plugs/adapter to use.. and most have different amps/volts. So I've got a box of loads of plugs and would like to write on them in permanent white ink what appliance they are for.

BTW - I've also got a DYMO Electronic label maker (was given to me) for producing sticky labels to put on stuff... but I can't find the right plug/adapter... it got lost amongst all my other unmarked adapters. Also I think I might have broken it by using an adapter which outputs too much voltage charge.

Little ones. Black. Meat eaters, no sweets. Completely cleaned out cabinets. They come back. Have used ant traps, the sweet mix, everything the man at the do-it-yourself pest control place had. Used everything over-the-counter. No good. Took the kitchen apart, can't find any food sources. They not on stove or in that area. Checked foundation areas, block house. Can't figure where they're getting in. Clean not an issue, wipe counters with bleach water and mop floors every night. Will appreciate any suggestions.
