I am using a antique french provencial dresser for the base of a vessel sink in my bath. What type of of product would be good for waterproofing, scratch resistant, and will not change the color of the wood? I live in Portland, Oregon so if you know of dealer that would be great too.
Thanks!

I bought some paint from Wal-Mart.
I totally loved it.. thought it was awsome and how it will be so nice to paint with a different colour because most of my house is the same colour.
So I bought my paint and painted the room..

and AKKKKKKKKKKKKK

It's the same colour as the rest of my house. It totally didn't look like it at the store!!

HA HA HA.. I must really love this colour.

Damn subconscious. =P

How did this happen?

I am going to be installing "pre-padded" carpet in a 12 x 12 room using double sided tape. The flooring in there now is this self stick linoleum tile. Should I remove this tile or will it be fine leaving it?

If you have a 2300 sq foot home, 3 bedroom. And you want to paint 2 of the bedrooms and the living room. Without me giving the square footage does anyone know how MUCH it will be? By using a calculater on the home depot site they estimated I need about 2 gallons a room (plus primer). But they will not allow me to see the pricing on the paint! lol. ***Basically I already understand that I will be needing about 7 gallons of paint and primer, probably gonna go with a semi-gloss, latex, any idea on how much it's going to run me?

I'm thinking of buying a house with a N facing garden, I know it gets less sun, but how much less? The garden is actually to the side of the house so off the thin side of the house if that makes sense (I just thought the wideness of the house wonlt overshadow it)and its not overlooked by any other houses. It veers slightly off a bit to one side but is not that long about 36 x 45 Can anyone give me an idea?

We're going to be moving this week and I wanted to get some free boxes to use. The last time we moved I was able to get a few from the liquor store which were good for glasses and not much else. I had a hard time finding boxes from like the grocery store and such. Any ideas on who might be willing to give up boxes?

Our fridge is only 3 yrs. old. I first want to say our house is very clean but we live in the country next to a field and from time to time a mouse finds its way in our home. Recently when I open the freezer it smells chemical like. Sometimes in that area of the room I get a faint smell of something like rotten meat. I have looked through cabinets and cleaned out everything and the only thing I can think of is there is something wrong the fridge giving off a strange odor or a mouse crawled in and died around the motor. The thought grosses me out and makes me want to just go get a new fridge but mine is not very old. Any ideas anyone?

That is, before they bite. We have a beautiful lanai and are troubled by mosquitos. We have burned citronella products with mixed success. We are thinking about investing in an electric bug zapper of some kind. Does anyone have any thoughts about which kind is best or even if they work? or what actually does work? Thanks a lot.

Had to drain my residential water system that has a sprinkler system with common recessed pendant heads. Need to turn water back on. I've seen instructions saying to bleed the air from the highest and farthest sprinkler head in the system. How, exactly, does one do this? Do you remove the head with a wrench? Maybe just loosen it? Or, perhaps, does the deflector turn or unscrew, allowing the stop valve to open partially? I just don't want to screw it up.

Also, I need to hang drywall on a ceiling in an unfinished room that has a pendant head with eschutcheon attached. What is the best practice for accomplishing this?

Or will it shrink a little bit because it makes me mad when i buy a shirt and it shrinks alot after my mom washes it then dries it. I'm not going to make it a big issue because its just a shirt but will it still shrink if i let it dry outside?

I am in the process of purchasing a new home, (2,300 sq ft 3bdrm 2ba) of which I want to do a few DIY improvements. I want to paint the living room, halls, and 2 of the bedrooms, and to add shutters and shrubs to the outside of the home. Does anyone know an estimate of how much it will run me? And the cheapest ways to go? Also I want to add wall to wall carpet to about 1,900 of the sqft (this will be done professionally as I am 4 months pregnate and cant fathom doing it myself at 7 months which is when I plan to do the remodeling.)
