How do I fix a baseboard heater that doesn't work? It doesn't have an indicator if it has power or if it's working. It just doesn't have any heat.

I have a built in floor heater, the pilot light is on but when I turn on the thermostat it won't go on. Could it be that I need a new thermostat?

I just rented a brand new condo (built this year) with two guys. I have the master bedroom and there is a cable jack in my room. However in the other two bedrooms there aren't. The only other cable jack is in the Family room.

We asked our landlord and it looks like they made a mistake when they built our condo. However, our landlord is saying that we are responsible for paying for a cable jack to be installed into each of the other bedrooms.

Is this true or is our landlord just cheap? I mean our condo was built in 2007 and my friend has a cable jack in each bedroom and her aparment building is at least 60 years old.

The woodwork is original mahogany in an 80-year old house. I want the hallway to look like old wallpaper. Thought about trying light gray and doing a pearl sponge over the top. I want to bring the character of the house out, without being obnoxious. I am familiar with faux and glazes, and don't mind if it takes awhile to get great results. I have patience to do it right.
I would like each of the 4 bedrooms to have a personality, but when I stand in the hallway, I don't want them to clash.
The bathroom has the original sink and clawfoot tub. Any ideas to bring out there beauty would be great.
Thanks everybody!

As New Englanders who frequently visit our sons in Minnesota, we have been struck by the lack of curtains and drapes in the houses. This seems surprising giving the insulation capabilities, which would seem to be an advantage in the North Country. Also, at least some of Minnesota's culture was brought there by transplanted New Englanders. What is the cause of this glaring fenestral omission?

I live in Lawrenceville, Georgia. I am not going to install yet. I just want to know the cheapest price so that I could consider if I should even install it. It'd be great if you can tell me a company name and i would really appreciate it if you can give me an estimate of the cost. Thank you

We've had to repair quite a few holes and dents in our drywall. With the big holes we put a new piece of drywall, put joint compound over the spot, sanded it, primed it and painted it. Where there were little dents we did the same thing just no new piece of drywall. The thing is, the final coat is a semi-gloss but where the compound is, the paint has turned into a flat finish. We don't prefer either finish but we would like it all the same. Does anyone know why this happens? If so, how can we fix it without having to put compound on the entire wall.
