It's true, Wal-mart is going to get rid of most of its fabric departments within the bext year and the rest will be phased out within the next three years. The heads of the company feel that it is not the most productive use of floor space, since they are going to remodel it starting this year. I think it's a real shame, although i have never bought fabric from Wal-mart they offer a different variety from other store, the competition is always good and gives the customer more of a selection.

I was told by my wal-mart that they are just decreasing how much they carry but that fabrics and crafts would be there. If they lied to me I'm gonna be so mad! I'll email them and ask them if it's all stores or just some (I do a lot of my fabric shopping at wal-mart as there's no Joann fabrics or anything around here).

Oh my gosh I had not heard this! That's where I buy all my fabric and crafts at. If they close the fabric department down I don't know where I will go to get fabric. Let's just hope that they don't. Thank you and I will e-mail them.

No, I work at walmart and have since 94. I asked our manager and upper's that came in and they told me it was a false rumor going about. I mean if they close the fabric department they might as well me cutting there throats. Do you realise the bolts of fabric that comes through my checkout line? lol That'd be another one of there big mistakes ever...go them lol

I was not aware. Thanks-- I will e-mail them. Its very convenient for me to get all the items I need in one place. I will have to drive a lot farther if this happens. And who wants to do that especially with the price of gas!
