most likely not... on you light fixture there should be a metal object called a ballast.... on that ballast there will be a sticker which will designate what ballast it is.... usually M59 or something similar for a metal halide, or an S51 for sodium, or an H36 for mercury..... find that number.... you may luck out and see that it may match up to a metal halide one, but i really doubt it

Unless the product is labeled for use with either kind of lamp, only use the MV lamp. HID fixtures are tested with the highest wattage lamp they are designed to work with. While some ballasts are dual use, stick with what the product is rated for. It's a safety issue.

I believe a MV fixture will burn a metal halide lamp.. both have ballasts. both are essentially the same type of lamp...

i know that a high pressure sodium will not work..they require starting aids, etc.
