We're going to be moving this week and I wanted to get some free boxes to use. The last time we moved I was able to get a few from the liquor store which were good for glasses and not much else. I had a hard time finding boxes from like the grocery store and such. Any ideas on who might be willing to give up boxes?

Try veterinary/dental/doctors clinics, they are always getting deliveries - especially cardboard dog food boxes - great for small pictures, plates etc.. If you live near Houston, we have plenty! Try Starbucks, petshops, other small shops, ask them to save them for you for a day or so, or call you when they have a few; you'll be surprised how many you'll get!
Good luck and happy moving! :-)

Ask around from your friends who work in offices. The paper boxes are perfect size for a lot of stuff.

Be careful getting boxes from grocery stores or warehouses. Roaches & Spiders like to crawl into the corrugated cardboard and lay their eggs. You can end up with an infestation problem at your new home!

Try going into 1 of the 24 hour super stores like Wal-mart. They pack out a lot of their merchandise at night like after 10 pm and you should be able to get some before they put them in the compacter. I just walked through the store looking for the folks putting the stuff up.

try your local kmart or walmart. they have plenty. it's best you go there some time after 11am. most of them would have just been emptied out. get there right away though, cause they end up getting crushed later in the day.

just go to the service desk, and they'll page somebody to get them for you. the most they'll give out at a time, will be five to six boxes, as the stores themselves must save some to reuse later.

Try the freecycle website in your area. People are always trying to get rid of moving boxes.
