There are several ways. Dipping a wick in hot wax, cooling then repeating that process over and over again till you get the correct thickness.
There are molds made from tin (old fashioned) and Plastic. Be careful wax is flammable. Most is heated in a double boiler

And you can use beekeepers foundation and roll over a wick.

if you want to know an old fashioned way that I did in 4th grade than you can just take string and dip it in heated wax, after it cools do it again and again, best works with many people, and takes the most time.

buy a candle making kit at Michaels...Hobby Lobby...any craft store...you need wax, wicks, and some kind of mold...
