Hello,
Has anyone had this operation, and what is the success rate.
My Wife has been advised that it will help her to regain use of her right thumb which is very painful, but she is very nervous of having this proceedure on only the surgeons recomendation, as she points out surgeons operate on people, that is their job.
Perhaps if anyone can tell us how successful the operation is, how much pain and scarring there is, and how long before the hand can be used in the normal way.
How the thumb is kept immobile after the operation and for how long.
Any information will be welcome to help her decide if it is for her.
Thanks.

I've been having some really bad toothaches lately, and my doctor prescribed some pain pills. I take them as prescribed, but lately I've been noticing an increase in the effects. It's so relaxing! I'm to take two every four to six hours for pain, but I've been wanting to take them even when I don't have pain...but only every four to six hours....I do want to moderate, lol.

I know about pain pill addiction, and I was just reading some of the other questions about it on here. I haven't been like this for long, in fact, I started fully appreciated the effects just alittle while ago, I kept telling myself "No, no, cigs are enough"

I haven't had too much trouble in controlling myself, and it's been nearly 24 hours since my last intake, but just last night I was wanting some, not craving though. I was wishing and hoping I'd get a toothache again so I could permit myself to take some, lol.
Do you think I'm at risk? I'm not experiencing any withdrawals.

I have had a bad sore throat for 3 days along with chills, slight fever and headach. I am also sweating when I swallow and the glands on the side of my throat are swelling. I have not been very hungry mostly because it hurts to swallow. I took some advil to help with the inflamiation and was told by my mother to gargle warm salt water. Why and what does that do? Also, how many days should I wait until I go see a doctor, I like to wait things out but this is the first illness I have got since I had my baby 9 months ago and am afraid of getting her sick.

I rarely ever get heartburn but I have it really bad tonight and can't go to sleep. It goes all the way from my lower ribcage up to the top of my throat and is the worst heartburn I've ever had in my entire life. (Salsa was the culprit)....what can I do to get rid of it? I don't have any antacid medicine or pepto bismol or anything and don't want to go to the store. Any home remedies that'll do the trick?

If doctors are so "smart" then why have they not developed an effective yet chewable pain killer? I am one among thousands of people who can not swallow pills. I'm sorry, but when I was little I prided myself on being the only child not to swallow rocks.

So now that I'm all grown up and all that, people are telling me, "Okay, honey. It's O.K. to swallow rocks." Only they're not rocks, they're pills! ((Though as far as I know, they probably taste the same...))

Please, I'm tired of crushing ibuprofen's and pamprins! Is there any really effective pain killer out there that's chewable? I can't take Motrin or Childrens tylenol anymore. It doesn't work!

And, if you don't know of any painkillers, then could you at least give me tips for trying to swallow a rock?

Heres the story, saturday I wrestle around with a friend, and he ends up sitting on my chest for a bit. Also in this day, a pigeon poops on me, but I wipe it off and all that. Sunday I woke up with minor chest pains and it hurt in my chest to swallow food, and had that all day. Monday I had the swallowing thing, and a little headache and fever. After monday the swallowing was fine again. I went to the ER actually monday night, after reading about diseases bird poo carries. Doc did a chest X ray, and said I have Pharyngitis. I got Erythromycin from him. Haven't had the headache and fever since. Now tonight is Thursday night, and I am having a little more chest pain. It is simple to swallow, but it feels like, I guess you could say ''cold'' in my chest when I breathe in deep, or if I cough. Also it hurts when I will use my arms to push myself up out of a chair. Is this something that was caused by the wrestling with the kid, or did the pigeon poop have something to do with it?

I am going in tomorrow to have a cystoscopy and possibly put a stent in my left ureter. I am concerned about pain management following this procedure. The Dr. assured me he would give me meds BUT I am allergic to anything with codeine which is what I've been told all the "good" stuff has. An ER Dr. gave me Ultram and it was terrible. No help with pain at all. I've dealt with kidney stone pain for almost a month and need something that is going to manage this pain from the procdure! I am really at my limit here but don't know what to ask for.

im 18 recently quit drinking and smoking and took on a healthy lifestyle, like keeping well hyrdrated and getting enough fruit etc.

but i keep getting pains all over the place, not bad pains, just little pains in my chest and abdomen, also had the symptoms of acid reflux, but i seem to get differant symptoms per day lol, seems odd. Today i've had a sinking feeling or like a feeling of pressure in my chest. Im also scared of going to the doctors!

also had twitches in various muscles every now and again and such like.

i also suffer from a short temper and anxiety, i think i may be a hyperchondriac also.

i must sound a right mess haha, feedback and some reassurance would be much appreciated cheers!

Ewan.
