Pain & Pain Management - October 2007

So I'm turning fourteen this Friday and for the past 5 to six months I have been getting joint pain. At first it started out very infrequent, and just dull pains I would complain about to my parents. They have progressively gotten worse however. My wrists and ankles had been hurting to the point of tears about 5 months ago, and was enough to distract me during classwork.
Recently my knees and ankles have been hurting similarly, at one point my knees hurt so much it hurt to walk. I regularly complain of joint pain, as it is always there dull and faint but I have spasms.

With my muscular pain it is in my chest area. I have had muscule spasms in my chest that has made it hard to breathe, and somewhat dizzy. It is not as frequent as it used to be, it is now once every two weeks. The muscle in my calves have also been starting to behave similarly, and I have fallen down due to them giving way under me numerous times in the last month.
Is this "normal"?

I've had pain in my taibone for about 1.5 years now. I just turned 15 so I can't take myself to the doctor nor pay for it and my parents don't think it is serious enough to take me. I've tried sitting on my stomach all day for about a week and it did not help much. Is there anyway to make the pain go away permanently myself or do I have to see a doctor for that?

My 13 yr old daughter has very thick legs from thigh to ankle and consequently her ankles are very thick. She tends to walk with her heels lopsided (inwards). After some physical exercise at school a few weeks ago she has hurt her knee, it is very painful at the back of her knee. She also seems to be flat footed. I am worried about her, she is in a lot of pain and can hardly put weight on her left leg due to pain in the knee. She wears very flat pumps to school which I feel doesnt help at all, but its all the fashion. She is tall for her age and is not particularly overweight. Am taking her to the doctor tomorrow, any help would be appreciated, thank you. I so feel for her. She will not wear skirts and it is knocking her confidence terribly.

I had whiplash last year, and I had an exam to write, so I just went to my campus health centre. I was treated by a physio student who didn't really know what she was doing, and was really sore afterwards. Whenever I get stressed the whiplash flares up again: the whole right side of my neck is stiff, and my neck vertebrae click when I stretch.

The stiff neck must be some kind of muscle damage, so I'd imagine a physio is better for that. I also had very good treatment for whiplash from a physio once before. But the clicking gives me the idea that one of the vertebrae is still a bit out of place. Also, it's a whole year after the accident. Does that mean I need to see a chiropractor instead?

Medical insurance will pay for either, so all I want to know is who is more qualified to deal with this.

I have had bad back pain that hasnt gone away despite pain killers. My GP (who I saw today) said he was re-ferring me to see an orthapedic in the local hospital.

I told my other half, & she was talking about it to her mum & her mum said that people have to pay to see them. Is this true???

Or has she got it confused with a cariopractor?

I joined the drill team in my school and i spin rifles alot practically every day. they're sorta heavy for a little kid like me.

two weeks after i started my left arm started hurting around the elbow and i couldnt extend it and make it straight as easy as i used to. sometimes when the pain is alot, it gets stiff and i have to try harder to make my arm straight and the elbow pops.

whats going on? and how can i fix it?
