I read about costochonditis and it sounds just like what i am experiencing right now- pain in my sternum and tenderness which is what costochondritis does.

But I have had back pain since 03. but the pain in my sternum started about 2 weeks ago.

I have a slight raise in my lower right abdomen close by my groin- it is barley noticeable but i am concerned. It hurts to push on it and it slightly hurts when I bend my torso down (so my shoulders are almost touching my knees) while sitting in a chair. I think it could be a inguinal hernia.

I was diagnosed with the above about 14 months ago, and was on steroids. unfortunately I put on weight, so I took myself off them. I have got to put up with the pain for the moment. But can it be a lifelong thing or not. By the way I tend to sleep on my left hand side with my right arm over my left shoulder and vice versa, but I have been told that would not cause it.

For the last 6month i have had pain in both thumbs mainly my right hand , the pain used to only come when i banged them on the joint or when i try and turn a wingnut or try and pick my laptop up with my fingers and thumbs, which is not easy at all. After a day of work (engineering) my thumb muscles can be quite tender. Problem is in the last few days of total rest my upper thumb joint and the bone from the wrist to the upper thumb joint on my right hand is giving a stinging ache every minute or so and woke me up last night. Right there's the info what do you think.

When a person is suffering with arthritis pain, that person will try just about anything (within reason) to alleviate some of the pain.

I was told about a method of soaking golden raisins in gin, eat 5 per day and it would help with the inflammation and pain -- similar to the relief gout sufferers experience with cherries.

Has anyone else used this method? What type of gin to use and how long to soak the raisins? Did this method provide a measure of relief?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I am still relatively young, but have suffered chronic back pain for almost 3 years. I have tried just about every osteopath, physiotherapist and massage therapist in the country. What is an alternative way to cure my long term back pain?

I have been applying antiseptic cream(Voren) on my muscle injuries and quite a few got into my fingers. I forgot about it and later used my fingers to peel a skin inside my mouth on my gums to be precise till it bleeds. Then I recalled i forgot to wash off the cream(which stated to be poison). I quickly wash my mouth but found the gums to be swollen and bruised the next day. Pls advise , many thanks

Didn't hurt very bad. Only when I bend it. But I just bent it and it made a lil popping noise. Now it hurts!! More! And everytime I type or bend it it makes a weird noise. But my other wrist dont!

i've been having constant headaches for the past week and a half. i've been taking advil and tylenol but nothing seems to be helping. when i'm relaxed and sitting the headache is mild but the slightest movement causes a lot of pain. i don't think its a migraine because I'm not sensitive to light or sound, just movement.
i've also been extremely tired everyday and once i close my eyes, no matter where i am, i fall asleep. i've been passing out around 8 every night, so i've been getting a good 11 hours of sleep.

When i run on a treadmill, my leg feels weird. The front area, not by the calf, feels tense and there's pressure there. It is usually enough to make me slow down or stop running. When i run outside, the tension is still there, but it is less pronounced. What's causing this?

Ive been going to my gp for approx 5 years with headaches. after 2 years of going back every week as the tablets perscribed hadnt helped. I finally got refered to a specialist. He did a quick exam shoes socks & trousers off & diagnosed hemicrania Continua. At my worst i was getting a headache & it lasting 7 days with no break. then id have 2 normal days then again for another 7 days of headaches. This cycle just kept repeating & made my life unbearable i couldnt do anything i was in that much pain. The specialist gave me indomethacin and i had to take 3 capsuals 3 times aday which made me feel like a bottle of pills. After a few months i went back to the specialist & he told me i could slowly reduce the number of tablets i was taking till i was off the tablets. Which i did. And my headaches almost disappeared i would just get normal headaches not to the serverity of my usual. i was in hospital 2weeks ago they returned worse! pain is to bad to live with now help needed tabs dont work!!

I went to the after hours clinic today and the doctor told me that I have an umbilical hernia. I have a really bad pain in my belly button and its getting worse. I told him that I have an appt with my primary physician on Monday and he said if I want to wait I can, but he would advise me to go to the ER today because progressively worse pain could mean a strangulated hernia.

Would it be ok to wait until Monday? Have you ever had experience with this? I just don't know if he *has* to advise people to go to the ER. At first he just referred me to a surgeon but when I told him that today it hurts worse than yesterday he said I should probably go to the ER.

Thanks.

It can't be the way i'm sleeping because i've been sleeping this way. In fact there is nothing new i've been doing. Last time this happened my Dr. gave me a Rx for muscle relaxer which did nothing at all.
