I had a problem with cramping in my calves for years. I finally went to my doctor and he said I wasn't getting enough calcium. I started drinking three glasses of milk a day and taking one supplement, and after a week the cramping went away. I can only suggest trying calcium and if that doesnt work, go see your doctor to rule out anything serious! Good luck!

Muscle cramps typically occur from an electrolyte imbalance, and electrolyte imbalances usually occur from dehydration, or low amounts of potassium, calcium, or magnesium in the blood. Magnesium and calcium are the electrolytes needed for muscles to relax. Potassium and sodium are needed for muscles to contract. You can get rid of cramps by taking a magnesium supplement before bed, and by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Sports drinks like Gatorade help, but they do not contain enough magnesium to stop a cramp one it starts. A 250 mg of magnesium supplement with a glass of water should get rid of a cramp in an hour or two. Once the cramp goes away, its also helpful to stretch the muscle.

You may be dehydrated. Make sure you drink plenty of water today - maybe add a gatorade. I get them when i don't drink enough throughout the day. It's why you see football players cramp up. It may be sore for a day or so.

Hot water takes away pain and cold water soothes any swelling that may be occurring, my suggestion to you is to take a hot bath and pour cups of not very cold but slightly cold water over it, it helps me when my back is aching

Stretching is a good remedy, but prevention is always best. Try a little more salt in your diet !

I think it is caused by a lack of potassium in your diet. I got them all the time when I was pregnant. Try eating a lot of bananas.
