I rarely ever get heartburn but I have it really bad tonight and can't go to sleep. It goes all the way from my lower ribcage up to the top of my throat and is the worst heartburn I've ever had in my entire life. (Salsa was the culprit)....what can I do to get rid of it? I don't have any antacid medicine or pepto bismol or anything and don't want to go to the store. Any home remedies that'll do the trick?

I used to be hooked on junk food, Tums and Pepto Bismol. I had suffered badly from severe acid reflux, chest pains and bloating to the point when I begged my doctor to be hospitalized. https://tr.im/HeartburnTreatment
I was prescribed Lansoprazole which was brilliant but after two years of aching joints, extreme muscle pain which the doc gave me cortisone jags for, with some research I discovered the drug Lansoprazole was causing these rare side effects but it was I who diagnosed it NOT my doctor, I came off the drug 2 months ago, changed my diet and discovered just eating an apple stops any acid reflux, I eat an apple before bed, brilliant no acid, any time I feel the slightest sign of reflux I simply eat an apple.
Apple juice is not that good nor is anything else I have tried including honey at stopping reflux.
Apple is a god send for keeping acid at bay, brilliant.

I have been a reflux sufferer for years and hardly did I know that acid reflux could eventually lead to cancer of the esophagus.

Stir a tablespoon of baking soda in a 1/2 cup of warm water and shoot it down! Tastes terrible but it works!

Although it seems contradictory, it works. Take a teaspoon or two of apple cider vinegar (NO OTHER KIND) in a glass of water. It is best if the apple cider vinegar is organic with the "mother".

If you happen to have buttermilk which I doubt then drink that. It was suggested to my grandpa for his heartburn and worked.

arm and hammer baking soda and water is an old school anti-acid. i think 2 tablespoons to a cup of water or so... it's on the side of the box. :) also, soda/saltine crackers may help
