I have the same problem from time to time, I'm not a doctor but I've been to the chiropractor many times, and they do the same thing every time. do you have a heating blanket, some thing small that you can put in the microwave, I think they sell these any where. anyway warm it up for a few sec. not to hot on the back. leave it there for about 10 to 15 Min's, where it feels comfortable for him, if its to hot rap it in a towel, then put it where it hurts him. after that you might want to mass. where it hurts him, not to much. it will be tender in some areas. what I do when it flairs up on me, I always have two ice packs in the freezer, so that way I just put it where it hurts the most. believe me it is very COLD but it does the job. until its numb. then I just lay down on the carpet, and move side to side, to loosen up. but that's me. they sell those heat raps that you could put on him also. good luck.

Put some ice on it to slow the bloodflow and cut down on inflammation. This will keep scar tissue from forming. Call your doctor's emergency nurse to get advice if you can't get to the emergency room.

It could be a lot of things, but if he is in that much pain maybe the best thing to do is to take him to the emergency room.
