I just spent $4,000 this year to save 3 teeth, and I've got another $2,000 to go. My dentist is good, but he's making about $1000 an hour. What do people do who can't afford this?

Recently, the right side of my jaw has been hurting. It's like when I open my mouth it's the in between where I close and open my mouth it hurts. Anytime I move it like when chewing. But it's not when I chomp down on something it's just when it moves it hurts. This is only happening to the right side of my jaw though. Know what it is?

I went to my regular dentist on December 2006 for a cleaning and he didn't find any cavities at that time. Then, I got braces on January. I moved to another state and it was time for my 6 months check-up and cleaning again. So I went to do it a couples of days ago and the doctor told me that I have 6 teeth that have cavities. But when the hygine doctor was doing the cleaning, she told me that I was taking good care of my teeth. So I don't understand if I am brushing my teeth 3 times a day, avoiding candy and soda; why I ended up having cavities? And the weird thing is that the doctor didn't show me my x-rays or the teeth that have cavities. The only thing he told me was, "we need to take care of those cavities right away!" So now I am divating on going for a second opinion because I don't believe this doctor. Please let me know if you have any suggestion or comments.

I'd like to floss but my lower teeth are very close together and so havent been able to floss without pain or nearly getting it stuck between my teeth. Is there any kind of super fine floss available or is flossing a no go for me?

I am thinking about buying the aquafresh whitening trays, but before I spend like $40 on them, I was wondering if anyone had good results with anything else, or with the aquafresh trays.

People get nervous when they go to dentist. Please let me know anything that I can improve the dental office. For example, better lighting, use aroma therapy to cover any smell from medicine, and more. Thank you!

I heard that a home rememdy for whitening your teeth was to mix baking soda and toothpaste together and then using that to brush your teeth, I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was ok to do this? or if it actually works?

My daughter aged 8 fell and one of her front top teeth was knocked upwards into her gum about 2 or 3 mm, so it no longer lines up with the other one. Is it possible this will gradually get back into position as she grows or is some dental work required? Would a brace help?

Hi guys,

I'm 20 years old and I really need braces because some of my teeth are out of alignment. I feel VERY uncomfortable laughing!! Should I get braces now? I know doctors say there's no age to get braces, but would it seriously look OK?? Plus I know it sounds kinda silly but I freak out going to a dentist. And I have wisdom teeth which will have to be removed and I'm REALLY scared about that. What should I do???

Thanks.

i have braces right now for an open bite, meaning by top teeth and my bottom teeth dont touch, i have braces, got teeth taken out and have an expander in addition to that. my orthodontist says that the bite will close, and i have notice though that my lips dont close and when i close my mouth to be serious or something i really have to force my lips to close, will this get fixed when i get my braces off, like will my lips close naturally without me having to try really hard? anyone had this problem with open bite? help

I know this seems like a really dumb question, but on the back of the "Listerine with fluoride" mouthwash bottle, it says, "DO NOT SWALLOW", and "do not eat or drink for 30 min. after rinsing".
After I finish rinsing, the minty flavor makes my mouth salivate because I guess my brain has come to connect mint flavor with some sort of mint candy or food. So for the next 30 min. after rinsing, should I swallow my saliva, or spit out any saliva for the next 30 min. (which would obviously be very inconvenient)?
Also, should I rinse my mouth out with water after rinsing with the mouthwash or not (since the label says do not eat or drink for the next 30 min.)?

I am getting tired of going into the stores and buying all of these teeth whitening products which don't seem to be working at all. I was told by a friend last week that I should try brushing with a little bleach and baking soda.
