i have braces right now for an open bite, meaning by top teeth and my bottom teeth dont touch, i have braces, got teeth taken out and have an expander in addition to that. my orthodontist says that the bite will close, and i have notice though that my lips dont close and when i close my mouth to be serious or something i really have to force my lips to close, will this get fixed when i get my braces off, like will my lips close naturally without me having to try really hard? anyone had this problem with open bite? help
!!!!

Once the treatment is completed you should be able to close your lips normally. Unfortunatly an open bite is one of the hardest things to treat. However, with your cooperation it can be done. Just be patient & remember it will all be worth it in the end. =)

I hope so, because I'm getting braces for the same reason on Monday!!! (well...also because my teeth are a bit crooked). I'm sure it will go away. It's probably just because your mouth is a bit to small for the braces. I shouldn't have that problem, my orthodontist said I should have plenty of room for the braces, but if you have a kinda small mouth, that may be the reason for the problem. I'm sure your orthodontist is right. Just trust him. If you need anything else just email me. Good luck. ^_^
