I have had many infections in my jaw (surrounding a bad tooth) for years. I also have a HUGE phobia of the dentist, and would rather not see one at all. I have tried all kinds of home remidies to ease the pain, and the infections so far have all went away. Ive tried salt water (for drawing out infection), alcohol (also to draw out infection and numb the pain), orjels, ambisols, and advil....But i was told that an infected tooth, not treated, can spread infection to your brain and kill you. Is this true?
Also, can an infection go away on its own?

I use Sonicare for about 5-6 minutes (very gently) to get rid of the plaque that I can see along my gum line.

I've noticed that in the middle of my two front teeth, toward the bottom is turning a little brown due to loss of enamel. I hold my Sonicare there a little extra at the end to get rid of any extra plaque. Is Sonicare the reason for this? Thanks.

Hi. If you want to go to the orthodontist to get braces or whatnot, how do the payments work? Is it run through your credit history, like a loan? is there interest charged? Just wondering how it usually works. thanks!

I just got braces today and they really hurt! Everybody tells me that the pain goes away but it's the brackets rubbing against by lips that really hurt. Will this go away and will the wax help this go away?

I have white marks on some of my teeth, not in the front but on the sides, they cannot really be seen when I smile. The marks look like someone has taken a white pencil and traced my teeth near the gumline. Any ideas what this could be? I take very good care of my teeth and never have any problems. I am hoping they will go away soon. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated. Thanks

I just moved to CA and I needed an experienced dentist. I went for a first visit two months ago and a whole set of x-rays were taken. I also have a gold crown on my back molar. Recently, in the last week I've had pain in my back molar area. I went to the dentist yesterday and complained of pain. He pulled out the x-rays from my first visit two months ago and told me the view of that tooth didn't come out at all. He took new x-rays of the molar and said it was heavily decayed and needs a root canal immediately. I asked him why he didn't take a x-ray of that tooth two months ago if it didn't come out. He said he maybe should have. He also said if it wasn't a molar he would just have the tooth extracted and have an implant put in. My question is -is the dentist guilty of malpractice now that I need a root canal instead of just a crown performed in the office and is it worth pursuing with an attorney or just have the root canal surgery done?

Hello, last week I went to the doctor because I was having bad tooth pain with drainage, so I knew that It was an infection. The doctor prescribed clindamycin(antibiotic) and lortab(pain pill). I have been taking the antibiotic's for a total of 5 day's and my teeth still hurt...all day long. The pain pill's bring me no relief. I'm am so tired of crying and hurting. However it is my understanding that I must complete these antibiotic's before any dental work can be done. Understandable, but the thing is, it feel's as if the infection is not leaving. Why else would I still be in pain? If there is anybody out there who has and knowledge in the dental field, I would like to know is this normal, for my teeth to still be hurting a great deal after 5 day's of antibiotic's? I still have 5 day's to go, but usually the pain would have subsided a bit. Thank's in advance for your help.
