I use Sonicare for about 5-6 minutes (very gently) to get rid of the plaque that I can see along my gum line.

I've noticed that in the middle of my two front teeth, toward the bottom is turning a little brown due to loss of enamel. I hold my Sonicare there a little extra at the end to get rid of any extra plaque. Is Sonicare the reason for this? Thanks.

sonicare toothbrush is design to reach between the gaps of your teeth. this toothbrush is highly recommended and I have never seen any cases of enamel loss due to a toothbrush...the toothbrush will not vibrate hard enought to harm your tooth...I use the sonicare and I love it...
If your are very concern about this problem consult your dentist, it most likely will not be enamel, the brown spots can be just stains.....I work in a dental office

You're only supposed to use the Sonicare for 2 minutes. There's even a timer built in!

If you used it longer, or concentrate it in one area, it will make your gums sore long before it hurts your enamel. In extreme cases (I guess) it could make your gums recede a bit.

If you have extra plaque you should use it as directed (2 min. over the whole mouth) every day, or twice a day. Over time it will remove heavy buildups. But a good cleaning at the dentist is important too.

Maybe you are brushing too long.

I have been using Sonicare for 20 years. It has an automatic shut-off after 2-minutes. I make sure that I place the brush at the gumline and roll it down so that any trapped food will fly out. I've never had your problem. Your dentist can help you figure it out.

HELLO,
WHAT THIS SMALL BROWN AREA MAY BE IS THE CEMENTO-ENAMEL JUNCTION AND THE DIFFERENCE OF COLOR IS THAT OF ENAMEL VS. DENTIN. THE DENTIN IS NORMALLY A YELLOWISH TOOTH SURFACE AND THIS CHANGE IS NOT CAUSED BY THE SONICARE.
THE AREA WHERE SOME GUM RECESSION HAS OCCURRED WAS NOT DUE TO THE SONICARE BUT PREVIOUS USE OF EITHER A MEDIUM OR HARD BRISTLE BRUSH OR TOO MUCH SCRUBBING PRESSURE WHILE BRUSHING.

I've been using my sonicare for the last 12 years on the recommendation of my hygienist and I haven't experienced what you are describing. I would talk to my dentist.
