Pain and gum senstivity is often a factor with braces. Unfortunately a bit of pain is a price you must pay for straight teeth. If it is too unbearable tell your Orthodontist. As for eating, try applesuace, yougurt, jello and peanut butter or cream cheese and jam on soft bread like wonder or taystee.

I don't miss wearing braces, that's for sure! Isn't it a shame that the pain, the mouth ulcers, and the general discomfort is a necessary evil to have straight teeth?

I used to puree soups all the time. Campbell's Tomato Soup tasted awfully good back then!

Good luck!

Yup. Definately normal. Think about it-someone has been messing with your teeth. Try to eat soft foods or soup til your mouth isn't sore anymore.

They'll be sore for the first few months (maybe even a year) every time you get them changed. You teeth are still shifting, that's why it hurts. Eventually, it won't feel any different when you get them changed.
