I just went to the dentist about 2 hours ago to get two fillings. I usually don't get the shots that numb my mouth but this time it was so painful i had to get 5. Is there anything i can do to make this feeling go away faster? I hate this feeling. .and the fact that I'm practically drooling on myself! ugh!

I got elbowed playing basketball and my tooth went through my mouth. The outside got stichted up, but inside is a large oppen wound, about an inch long. I don't want it to turn into a giant canker sore so I want any advice on how to keep it clean an speed up the healing process.

Right now I am rinsing with Peroxyl and sometimes saltwater. Is that good, any other advice for rinses or care please??

Okay so, I had an infection in my 2nd molar.

I went the first time and they removed some of the nerves, just to calm the tooth down and to prevent the constant pain I was in. Then I went back a week later and they took the rest out, and then last week they finally finished everything and prepared it for the crown...

It's been a week and a half or so since then, and now I suddenly have pain on the left side of the tooth when I touch it (it doesn't hurt otherwise, and it doesn't really hurt that bad to begin with, but there's definitely some sort of pain on the left side when I touch it, either when biting down or just touching it with a finger.)

Is this normal? I know that they said the tooth will be very sensitive and I should be careful with it (I didn't want the temp crown because the bite was off and it was bothering me so they just said not to eat on that side and i'll be fine..) Should I call and get it checked out anyways? or is it just because the tooth is sensitive?

My two lower wisdom teeth have been coming in for quite some time. My left one is pretty much already in, and my right one comes in for a bit, then it stops. Then it coems back and stops. It gives me a sore throat along with it. The dentist said usually people have to have theirs out, but he said that my mouth is big enough to have them in, but they hurt like hell (they gorw one at a time)...Is this Normal? and do people have TOP wisdom teeth? Because my dentist asked me if he pulled them, and I said "no" and my ex ray was right there, so I'm guessing I don't have any top ones....

When you ask a dentist to pull a tooth, even when you are paying him in cold hard cash, they always try to find a way to convince you that you don't want to get that tooth pulled afterall, they can save it.

I think this is because the dentist's around the world have entered into a silent pact between them that for every tooth that is pulled from a patients mouth, is one less tooth that some dentist somewhere in the world can not work on, and if everyone got their way in having the dentist pull their tooth, dentists would go out of business.

I have had dentist's refuse to pull the tooth that I wanted pulled, even when I offered to pay them in cash and not use my dental insurance, they just hate to do this.
Does anyone out there in Yahoo Land know the reason why dentists do this?
Please do me the courtesy of enlightening me on this issue, cause I sure would like to know their reasons.

Thank you in advance!

I've had this sore on the inside of my lower lip. I thought it was a canker sore at first, but it doesn't look like one and doesn't hurt at all. It's clear in color and looks like it's filled with a fluid... What could this be? I've been gargling with Crest ProHealth mouthwash the past couple days and it seems to be irratating it... I'm beginning to wonder if it's starting to leak whatever is inside it, because all day I've had this horribly bitter taste in my mouth. I've had it for over a week. It doesn't seem to be getting bigger. Should I see a doctor? It's just annoying.. I can feel it there...

I have a dentist appointment scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, and I just fell ill with a pretty minor cold today. No coughing, but a pretty bad sore throat, runny nose, and earache. It is just a cleaning, but I am a new patient, and he is the only dentist I can see (and it took me a few months to get in). I wouldn't mind still going, myself, but is it a rude thing to do? Would the dentist want me to cancel? Should I go?

I went about a week and a half ago to the dentist and got some cavities on the right side of my mouth filled. They were and still are very, VERY sensitive to sweets, hot, and cold food items. Even water.
I usually get a throbbing pain and sometimes it comes when I'm going to sleep even without eating sweet, cold or hot stuff.

I then got some cavities filled on the left side of my mouth two days ago and they don't hurt in the slightest. But the right side of my mouth still hurts...in particular two teeth, one on the top and one on the bottom.

I'm not asking how to solve the pain but rather the REASON for the pain...it hurts...

I told the dentist about the pain before I got the cavities on the left side fixed and he just said that I would have a painful reaction to those foods and ended it there.

I need to know why. I checked my teeth and I have no cracks or anything of the sort. My gums are fine.

i wear elastics at the moment and they suck, there so darn painful, and there giving me a clicky jaw on one side. im only wearing them at night because they hurt so darn much, its not really hurting pain, just annoying pain, i have lots of things to do, i dont need this pain, its distracting. they need to develop another way to do it rather than elastics. will wearing them only at night harm how long i have braces?

I am using oragel, and another mouthrinse withe lidocaine, for mouth sores due to chemo. I have been using these for a week. The oragel doesnt seem to numb as effectively as it did in the beginning. I am seeing a doctor Monday but, with all respect, an oncologist may not know everything about Oragel. Thats why I am asking.
