I'm under the impression that when you use mouthwash and it stings, that's the same process as putting hydrogen peroxide on a cut and it stings. If it doesn't sting, how can it be working?

And if that's not what's happening, why does it sting?

I went to the dentist because of a toothache, she took a xray, and looked at the tooth. She said she did not think that it was coming from the tooth. She said that I dont even have a cavity on it. She said i could have a infection in my gums. So she gave me a sntibiotic. She said that I also really need a cleaning. Well I have finished with my antibiotics and it still hurts? I do go for a cleaning. but in the meantime what could it be??

I developed severe tooth ache and after suffering for 3 days saw my dentist. After an xray, I was told that I needed a root canal. The whole proceedure was worse that giving birth, so painful even after numerous injections. Root canal was completed last Thursday. The tooth not as painful, but still cannot eat on that side of mouth or on the back tooth, very sensitive and sore to the touch. Will this ease or do I have to wait until the crown fitted? (I will never have this done again, I will have the tooth out next time). I cannot believe Im still in pain after paying out a fortune !

but just use the sensitive toothpaste...he says there is no cavity. But I am suspicious because I do not have dental insurance this time. Do you think he is he turning me away because of no dental insurance? Is he lying to me?

Ok, the long story is, I needed a surgery aftr my braces to extend the upper jaw (forgot whats called) so I was expecting my medical insurance would cover the surgery. I just found out it doesnt and the total cost will be from my pocket (~$25k). I'm not cheap but am I the only one who thinks that INSANE for fixing a smile?
Now, that I wont be getting a surgery, I wont need braces... my ortho had mentions braces without surgery would be useless. If i cancel my braces (after 6 months into a 2 year contract) will I still need to pay the full amount of my contract? Or do dentists kind of slide a bit. ( i have already paid close to $2k for these braces)

my 6 year old unfortunately has been found with two cavities, on identical sides of her mouth, the dentist said it wasn't a result of not brushing, but that usually baby teeth have spaces between, but these two teeth are next to each other with no space, so its hard for it to become cleaned properly, anyway, she is having them fixed tomorrow, the dentist said they would give her laughing gas, but my daughter has never really had any kind of medication other than the typical OTC's for colds and stuff, I'm worried about allergic reactions, and then of course there have been some horror stories in the news about kids who were given to much, or were given the gas with other meds and they died.....is it safe? has anyone elses child had it? I'd love to know....and how did your child do?

I am having an upper 2nd molar extracted tomorrow (#2). I was told if the oral surgeon determines the root of the molar to extend into the sinus cavity it would require oral surgery for removal, which will cost more. I have an xray of my tooth from my dentist. How can I tell if it is in the sinus cavity or not? I have tried to google for pictures, but have had no luck. Just getting a little anxious about the bill... not so worried about the removal, I trust my doctor very much.

Thank you.

I just had a tooth extracted out at the dental 2 days ago. The Dentist says that one of my tooth which i extracted is quite decayed and have to remove it to prevent the other teeths to follow same.
So i follow suit, and extracted the decayed one. He then stitched my gum.
I am trying my best to eat on one side so that food does not get stuck at the stitched area.
Now i just would like to know if there would be any bad breath from where the decayed tooth has been extracted ?

Besides i am using Listerine mouthwash as well now.

I had 24 teeth extracted on July 2nd and had the immediate dentures placed. I have been really lucky so far, haven't had much pain or discomfort, it's actually going really well and the healing process is moving along on time. Almost all of my swelling is gone and in 6-8 weeks I get my soft liners. I do have one huge question though so far. I don't want to seem a fool asking the dentist because I have brought it up and they seem to blow me off saying it's just the swelling. But is it perfectly normal for your upper lip to seem to stick out further than it should? My smile seems so fake and disfigured because of it. Like I said my face swelling is all gone but could it be swelling from the gums still since they have stitches in them? I just don't want this "fake"look to stay. It's almost like the upper denture is pushing my top lip out. Has anyone else gone through this and/or know if it will look right when it's all said and done? I am very nervous about it. Thank you.

I have a medium-deep cavity on my lower eye tooth and I have to go get it filled within the next 2 or so weeks. I've been obsessing over the tooth for about a month and barely think of anything else, even when I'm doing something else.

Today, I felt the worst repercussion of the anxiety with a "panic attack". I was researching fillings (which I've been doing a lot of), and all of a sudden I was nauseous, then I broke into a cold sweat and started shaking.

I didn't feel better until I went and layed down to chill.

I can't keep spazzing about the stupid tooth, how do you suggest I relax about this "simple" procedure.

i am 24 and have had the bridges since i was 19. these things are the pits! i have two bridges with 1 tooth on each, on my top row. the two false teeth are either side of my front two with only one wing connecting each 1 of them to 1 of my front two teeth.
(they had two wings to start with either side but they came out almost monthly because my front two do move a touch) i instructed the dentist to cut 1 wing off each of the bridges so that each bridge was only supported by one of my front two real teeth.
that worked for 2 years but now im toothless on a weekly basis again! i have exspressed that i am not happy with them! what perminent fix is best? my dentist is talking about a new maryland bridge where the wings are not metal and says they bond better! i dont believe this to be the case and feel id be paying out again for a job that wont work. i want somthing that works not something that does not. of course my front two have now been ground down along with the other two on the opposite side to the gaps,my dentist is nhs! please help i look like a right plonker at the momonet what would u do if u were me? im not a millionaire but could get a bit together! thanks again
